Penn State Wrestling Moves Big Ten Match Earlier Amid Sudden Change

A looming winter storm has shifted Penn State wrestlings weekend plans, prompting an earlier-than-expected Big Ten showdown on the road.

Penn State Wrestling Adjusts Weekend Slate Amid Winter Weather Concerns

Top-ranked Penn State is rolling into another Big Ten weekend with its perfect record intact-and now, with a slight change of plans. Cael Sanderson’s powerhouse squad, riding an 80-match win streak, is still set to host Indiana on Friday night at Rec Hall, but their originally scheduled Sunday matchup at Maryland has officially been bumped up a day.

The Nittany Lions will now face the Terrapins on Saturday, January 24, at 5 p.m. inside Schanwald Pavilion. The time and date shift comes in response to expected winter weather in the region, as announced jointly by both programs.

Fans won’t have to miss a moment of the action-Saturday’s dual will be streamed live and free on Big Ten Plus (Big Ten+).

This weekend marks another opportunity for Penn State to showcase why they’ve been the gold standard in college wrestling. With a lineup stacked top to bottom and a coaching staff that continues to get the most out of its talent, the Nittany Lions have turned consistency into dominance. Eighty straight dual wins don’t happen by accident-it’s a testament to preparation, depth, and execution.

Indiana will get the first crack at trying to slow down the freight train on Friday night in the always-electric Rec Hall atmosphere. Then, it’s a quick turnaround for a road trip to College Park, where Maryland will look to pull off a major upset in front of its home crowd.

Two duals. Two Big Ten foes. One team chasing history-and showing no signs of slowing down.
