Penn State's New QB Brings Extra Pressure Into A Huge Season

With college football careers on the line, Penn State's Rocco Becht prioritizes the gridiron over the classroom.

Penn State quarterback Rocco Becht is already making one thing clear: the classroom portion of college football may not be much of a factor for him this fall.

Becht, the fifth-year signal caller and son of former NFL tight end Anthony Becht, told reporters Thursday that he won’t be taking any in-person classes this semester. He already earned his undergraduate degree at Iowa State before moving on to Penn State, where he arrived along with new head coach Matt Campbell.

When asked about the classes he plans to take, Becht kept it simple: “I don’t know yet, we haven’t picked it yet.”

For a lot of college athletes, a lighter academic load during the season is nothing new. But Becht’s situation stands out because he’s now the starter at a Big Ten program with real expectations attached. He’s stepping into a Penn State role that comes with attention, pressure and the usual quarterback spotlight that follows a player around everywhere.

The path ahead won’t be easy, either. Becht is trying to position himself for the next level while competing against a loaded group of quarterbacks in the 2026 NFL Draft conversation.

Arch Manning, Dante Moore and C.J. Carr are all names already drawing major buzz heading into the 2026 season.

On the field, Becht has shown he can move an offense. Last season, he threw for more than 2,500 yards and finished with 16 touchdown passes. If he wants to stay in the national conversation in 2026, those numbers will need to climb.

Penn State Fraternity Drug Case Took An Even Wilder Turn During Arrest

Thomas Robinsons arrest in December 2024 put a harsh spotlight on a cocaine trafficking case tied to two Penn State fraternities, a probe that has already led to suspensions and sanctions for both Delta Upsilon and Sigma Chi. The 23-year-old student was among 14 people charged, and investigators said searches connected to the case turned up drugs and a firearm, underscoring just how serious the allegations have become.

Robinson faces multiple felony charges, and the case has continued to unfold in a way that keeps drawing attention back to the campus and the Greek system around it. What makes this arrest especially notable is the bizarre moment that reportedly played out as officers moved in, a detail that adds another layer to a case already marked by major accusations and a widening fallout for Penn State. Penn State has put out its 2027 football season-ticket prices, giving fans their first clear look at how Beaver Stadiums renovation is reshaping the cost of staying in the house. The changes come with the kind of split reaction you would expect around a major stadium project: some sections are getting more expensive, others are not, and the university has tried to soften the blow by laying out the details well in advance for season-ticket holders.

The biggest conversation point is the new premium seating built into the renovation, which is already drawing plenty of attention from fans trying to figure out what the upgraded game-day experience will mean for their wallets.
