Penn State Lands 2026 Running Back Before Key Signing Day Moment

Penn State continues to shape its 2026 recruiting class with the addition of a familiar Delaware standout at running back.

As National Signing Day inches closer, Penn State continues to build out its 2026 recruiting class - and the latest addition brings both potential and pedigree.

Three-star running back Amar’e Glover made it official Friday morning, announcing his commitment to the Nittany Lions via social media. The Middletown (Del.) High School standout brings a mix of speed, vision, and upside to a Penn State backfield that’s quietly assembling a strong foundation for the future.

Glover is rated as the No. 1062 overall prospect in the country, the No. 64 running back, and the No. 4 player in Delaware, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. While those numbers might not jump off the page, there’s more to the story here. Middletown High has produced talent before - most notably former Penn State wide receiver Chris Godwin - and Glover’s path could follow a similar trajectory if he develops the way the staff believes he can.

He’s no stranger to Happy Valley either. Glover took an unofficial visit last summer and returned for Junior Day, giving the coaching staff multiple chances to evaluate him in person. That familiarity, combined with his work ethic and fit within the program’s culture, helped seal the deal.

While Glover held offers from schools like Virginia Tech, Maryland, and Arizona, he’s chosen to walk on at Penn State - a move that speaks volumes about his belief in the program and his willingness to earn his spot. He becomes the second running back in the 2026 class, joining in-state product D’Antae Sheffey out of State College.

For Penn State, this is a low-risk, high-upside addition. Glover brings depth to the running back room, and while he may not carry the recruiting star power of some of his classmates, he’s got the kind of traits - toughness, versatility, and a chip on his shoulder - that often translate well at the college level.

Keep an eye on this one. Glover might be flying under the radar now, but the Nittany Lions have a history of developing talent, especially from programs like Middletown that know how to prepare players for the next level.
