Penn State Freshman Ben Whitver Poised to Shake Up Wide Receiver Lineup

Amid significant roster changes, freshman wide receiver Ben Whitver seizes his opportunity at Penn State, his lifelong "dream school."

Penn State football is embracing change this spring, particularly at the wide receiver position. After facing scrutiny in recent seasons, the team welcomes seven new players to the mix.

Among the fresh faces are five transfers: Karon Brookins, Brett Eskildsen, Zay Robinson, and Chase Sowell from Iowa State, along with Keith Jones Jr. from Grambling. These players are expected to make an immediate impact.

Additionally, two freshmen are stepping into the spotlight. Ben Whitver, from Powhatan High School in Virginia, enrolled in January.

Amarion Jackson, another Class of 2026 recruit, joins him at receiver after initially planning to play defensive back.

Whitver's journey to Penn State is particularly intriguing. Initially committed to James Madison University, he reconsidered after a coaching change there and a new opportunity at Penn State. Finalizing his decision on December 27, Whitver joined the Nittany Lions just as they celebrated a Pinstripe Bowl victory.

"To be honest, I've always loved Penn State," Whitver shared with Lions247. "It's always been a dream school for me. It feels like home and I'm excited."

With these new additions, Penn State's receiving corps is poised for a fresh start, promising an exciting season ahead.
