In Happy Valley, the winds of change are blowing through Penn State's running back lineup. With Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton setting their sights on the 2026 NFL Draft, the Nittany Lions are ushering in a new era in their backfield.

Enter Savon Huggins, the former Boston College staffer, now at the helm as Penn State's running backs coach. His task?

To mold a fresh batch of talent as spring practice kicks off.

Among the new faces is D'Antae Sheffey, a local sensation from State College High School. Once committed to Syracuse, Sheffey jumped at the chance to don the blue and white when Penn State extended a scholarship offer on January 2nd. His enthusiasm for the program is palpable.

"Playing at Penn State has always been a dream," Sheffey shared. "Growing up here, attending the games - it’s part of who I am.

Meeting Coach Campbell and the new staff was great. They’re building something special, and I’m eager to be a part of it."

While Sheffey brings youthful promise, the Nittany Lions have also bolstered their ranks with experienced transfers. Carson Hansen from Iowa State and James Peoples from Ohio State are poised to make an impact. These seasoned players, along with returnees like Quinton Martin Jr. and Cam Wallace, add depth and competition to the roster.

Sheffey might not be the headliner just yet, but his potential is undeniable. "We were surprised he didn’t attract more attention during recruitment," a Penn State insider noted.

"Having him right here was a perfect match. It’s a win-win - we needed young talent, and he was eager for the opportunity."
