Penn State's former standout quarterback, Drew Allar, is back in action and ready to showcase his skills at the NFL Scouting Combine. After a season-ending broken left ankle, Allar has been cleared to throw, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The injury, which occurred during a game against Northwestern on October 11, initially saw Allar relying on a motorized vehicle and a protective boot. However, by the season's end, he was moving independently, a testament to his determination and the support he received.
"I’ve got an amazing athletic team here that's been instrumental in my recovery," Allar shared in a November Zoom call. "From coaches to my family and agents, everyone’s been incredible. My teammates have also made this transition much smoother."
Allar's tenure at Penn State was nothing short of impressive. As a three-year starter and two-year captain, he amassed 7,402 passing yards, 61 touchdowns, and only 13 interceptions. His dual-threat capability was evident with an additional 736 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.
In the 2022 recruiting class, Allar was a coveted 5-star prospect. Now, as he enters the draft, ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks him as the third-best quarterback, trailing only Indiana's Fernando Mendoza and Alabama's Ty Simpson.
All eyes will be on Lucas Oil Stadium this Saturday as quarterbacks take the field, with Allar eager to prove his mettle on the big stage.
