When you think of Dani Dennis-Sutton's time at Penn State, a few standout moments might come to mind. There’s his soaring interception against Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff semifinals and his relentless pursuit of quarterbacks.
But for many, the most enduring image of Dennis-Sutton is from a baseball stadium in the Bronx. While several teammates opted out of the Nittany Lions’ bowl game against Clemson, Dennis-Sutton suited up and delivered a performance to remember, leading Penn State to victory.
Reflecting on his decision to play, Dennis-Sutton noted that NFL teams have frequently asked about it during the pre-draft process. For him, playing was never in question. It was a testament to his dedication and unique journey at Penn State.
"Playing in a bowl game might not be the trendy thing unless it’s the playoffs," Dennis-Sutton shared. "But my path is different.
I wanted to play every game possible for Penn State. You just never know what’s next."
Dennis-Sutton was part of Penn State’s highly touted Class of 2022, joining forces with quarterback Drew Allar and running back Nick Singleton. This group also featured future draft picks like Abdul Carter and KJ Winston.
Despite the allure of the pros, Dennis-Sutton and some of his peers chose to return for the 2025 season. It was a rollercoaster year, starting strong at 3-0, then hitting a rough patch with three consecutive losses, leading to the dismissal of coach James Franklin.

This tumultuous season has been a hot topic in Dennis-Sutton’s conversations with NFL coaches. He wrapped up the year with impressive stats: 42 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, and more than half of those tackles for loss came in the season’s final stretch.

"It was a tough season," Dennis-Sutton admitted. "We let the Oregon loss snowball, and it cost us.
But I’ve learned and grown. My leadership skills have developed, especially after Coach left.
I felt the team, especially the defense, looked to me. I took pride in that and wanted to finish strong with my teammates."
Dennis-Sutton’s leadership wasn’t just about experience or talent; it was about the example he set. He prided himself on being a steady, hard-working presence.
"I’m respected here at Penn State," he said. "I’m not in trouble, I’m always working hard. I’m not the loudest guy, but I motivate through action and accountability."
As the 2026 NFL Draft approaches, Dennis-Sutton stands out as a compelling prospect. His combine performance was impressive, clocking a 4.63-second 40-yard dash and showcasing elite jumps among edge rushers.
His blend of size, speed, and versatility makes him a unique talent. He’s not just a defensive powerhouse; he’s ready to contribute on special teams, too.
Dennis-Sutton’s Penn State career concluded at Yankee Stadium with a memorable win in the Pinstripe Bowl, capped by a two-sack performance. As he reflected on his journey, he acknowledged the bittersweet end to his college days.
"It was a little sad," Dennis-Sutton confessed. "After the game, it hit me - I’m an alumni now.
It happens fast. But I wanted to give my all to Penn State one last time, finish with a win, and inspire next year’s team."
