Anthony Donkoh Stuns Fans With Big Decision at Penn State

Amid initial doubts, Anthony Donkoh commits to Penn State, bolstered by praise and support from the coaching staff highlighting his leadership and potential.

Penn State's offensive lineman Anthony Donkoh has decided to continue his journey with the Nittany Lions, a choice he announced on December 30, 2025. As a redshirt junior, Donkoh's commitment to Happy Valley wasn't always certain, but his decision to stay is a big win for head coach Matt Campbell.

In a time when many players are exploring the Transfer Portal, keeping key talents like Donkoh is crucial for Penn State. "They made me a priority," Donkoh shared.

"I see the vision they have for us and for me. The people here are genuine, and that's one of the biggest reasons I stayed.

I love these guys."

Donkoh, a four-star recruit from the Class of 2023, was ranked 415th overall and 29th among interior offensive linemen, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. Since his redshirt freshman year in 2024, he has been a mainstay on the field, making 21 starts.

His journey began with four appearances as a true freshman in 2023, followed by 11 games with 10 starts at right tackle in 2024. In 2025, he played in all 13 contests, starting 11 of them.

Head coach Matt Campbell is full of praise for Donkoh, calling him a leader and one of the best players in the program. Offensive line coach Ryan Clanton sees immense potential in Donkoh, stating that he's only halfway to where he can be. Clanton is eager to help Donkoh reach elite status.

Donkoh himself acknowledges there's more room to grow. He trusts the new coaching staff to accelerate his development.

While former coach Phil Trautwein envisioned Donkoh as a guard, the redshirt junior feels most comfortable at tackle. "Tackle allows me to play to my strengths," Donkoh explained.

"While I'm willing to play wherever needed, tackle lets me be myself."

Coach Clanton agrees, believing that tackle is where Donkoh will truly shine. With his commitment and drive, Donkoh is poised to be a cornerstone for Penn State's offensive line moving forward.
