The Ottawa Senators’ new Hometown Remix jerseys are here, and the reaction has already split the fan base.
Unveiled along with the rest of the NHL’s 32 teams yesterday, the alternate look is meant to celebrate local history and culture. For Ottawa, that means a black Fanatics jersey built around familiar Senators imagery, but dressed up with gold accents and a series of small details tied to the city and the Ottawa-Gatineau region.
The most obvious change is the color treatment. The Centurion crest stays put, but it gets a metallic gold finish instead of the usual white detailing. That gold theme carries through the red stripes and lettering as well, replacing the home jersey’s white elements with gold colouring and red details.
Look closer, though, and the jersey leans into Ottawa’s identity in quieter ways. The sleeves feature geometric patterns inspired by the Peace Tower clock on Parliament Hill, one of the more recognizable symbols associated with the team’s branding over the years. The Peace Tower has shown up before in Senators promotions and jersey designs, including promotional jerseys before the team reentered the league in 1992, a shoulder patch in the early 2000s, and the small inscription of the word ‘Ottawa’ in last year’s 2025 red alternate jersey release.
The shoulder patches also reflect the franchise’s bilingual roots, with English and French inscriptions placed over the logo on opposite shoulders. Inside the hem, there’s an image of the Alexandra Bridge, a clear nod to the connection between Ottawa and Gatineau.
Still, not everyone is sold. Some fans online have said the details are too subtle and wanted the team to take a bigger swing, like other clubs around the league.
Others pointed to the black-and-gold look and said it feels too close to the Vegas Golden Knights. There were also calls for the Senators to revive the heritage ‘O’ or the Senagoth.
Even with that debate, the jersey is packed with references to the city. The writing itself is meant to reflect the Gothic architecture found throughout Ottawa’s centre, and the overall design aims for a cleaner, more classic look.
The Senators will wear the Hometown Remix jerseys for the first time on November 12, when the Colorado Avalanche come to the Canadian Tire Centre.

Senators Prospects Sent Mixed Signals During Bellevilles Tough Five-Game Stretch
Bellevilles latest five-game run gave the Senators organization a little of everything, which is probably why it felt so uneven. A 2-3-0 stretch is hardly disastrous, and the club still sits fourth in the North Division by points percentage, but the results came with enough swings to leave a mixed read on where the group stands right now. There were stretches when the team looked organized and competitive, and others when it let opportunities slip away.
The individual performances told a similar story, with some prospects showing they can help drive play and others still searching for consistency from night to night. For Ottawa, that makes this kind of stretch more informative than the standings alone might suggest, because the Belleville roster is supposed to be a proving ground. The challenge now is sorting out which of those recent flashes are becoming habits and which ones were just short-lived bright spots. [Read more 🡒]
