In that version, the Indiana Pacers and the Miami Heat both move ahead, while the Atlanta Hawks fall behind, leaving Orlando one spot lower than last season. Even then, the expectation is that the Magic remain a tough playoff opponent.
There’s also a middle ground forecast that has Orlando finishing as a top-five seed. That view points to the team’s limited offseason movement, the improved health the roster is expected to have, and a first-year head coach in Sean Sweeney who is seen as a clear upgrade over Jamahl Mosley. The Magic’s top-6 or top-7 is considered strong enough to carry them through the regular season, even if the offense still raises questions.
