The Orlando Magic's recent winning streak hit a snag with a 124-112 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Now, they face a formidable challenge as they host the reigning NBA champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Thunder, boasting a league-best 53-15 record, are no easy opponent. Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley knows that facing the champs requires precision and discipline.
“You're playing the champs; they're that for a reason,” Mosley noted. “They excel at turning you over and executing offensively.
Every little detail in this game matters.”
Fresh off a career-high 41-point performance by Hawks guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker, the Magic now have to contend with his cousin, MVP frontrunner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Mosley praised Gilgeous-Alexander’s ability to control the game.
“He's in the MVP race for a reason,” Mosley said. “He gets to his spots, plays selflessly, and sets up his teammates for success.
His stats in wins and losses are remarkably consistent.”
On the injury front, Mosley provided updates on Franz Wagner and Anthony Black. Wagner is making progress with light contact on the court, but Black remains sidelined, limited to light movements in the weight room. Tuesday’s game will mark Wagner’s 15th consecutive absence and Black’s sixth.
Despite facing their second back-to-back in a week, Mosley refuses to use the schedule as an excuse. “This is the schedule the league has put out,” he stated.
“Every team deals with it. You have to find a way to get the job done.
Anything worth having isn’t easy, and this group knows how to push through.”
As the Magic prepare to face the Thunder, the focus is on resilience and determination. It's game day, and the Magic are ready to rise to the challenge.
