The Sean Sweeney era in Orlando opens Oct. 21, when the Magic host the Atlanta Hawks at Kia Center at 7 p.m. The NBA released the 2026-27 regular-season schedule Thursday, giving the franchise its first look at life under a new head coach after Jamal Mosley was dismissed in May.
Sweeney is stepping into his first head-coaching role after spending years as a college coach and an NBA assistant. Mosley was let go days after Orlando failed to get out of the first round of the playoffs for the third straight season. He was hired by the New Orleans Pelicans on May 18, and his return to Kia Center comes Feb. 2, when New Orleans visits Orlando.
The schedule brings a heavy workload. Orlando has 14 back-to-backs on the calendar, along with a nine-day road trip from March 10-18 that includes five games.
The longest homestand lasts 13 days from Feb. 25-March 9 and features six games.
The Magic close at home April 9 against Toronto before finishing the regular season April 11 at Miami.
Division play gives Orlando plenty of familiar opponents. The Magic will face Southeast rivals Miami, Charlotte, Atlanta and Washington four times each. They’ll play the rest of the Eastern Conference 36 times and have 30 games against Western Conference teams in home-and-home series.
A few matchups jump off the page. Orlando sees the defending NBA champion New York Knicks three times, with trips to Madison Square Garden on Oct. 25 and home games March 28 and March 30. LeBron James and his new team, the Philadelphia 76ers, also meet the Magic three times before the end of 2026: Nov. 18 in Orlando, Dec. 12 in Philadelphia and Dec. 14 in Orlando.
The schedule also puts Orlando in front of some notable new-look teams. Miami now features its roster built around trade acquisition Giannis Antetokounmpo, while Washington’s group is led by AJ Dybantsa, the No. 1 pick in this year’s NBA draft.
Before the games start counting, the Magic will report for training camp Sept. 29. Preseason begins Oct. 7 in Memphis at 8 p.m. and ends Oct. 16 against the Heat at Kia Center at 7 p.m.
Single-game tickets for the regular season go on sale Friday at 1 p.m. at OrlandoMagic.com/tickets, the Kia Center box office on Church Street, or Ticketmaster.com/Magic. Season tickets, partial plans, group options and single-game Kia Center suite rentals are already available. For ticket information, go to OrlandoMagic.com or call 407-89-MAGIC.

Magic Fans Just Got A Long Overdue Win Off The Court
The long wait for easier access to Magic games is finally over for a big chunk of the local fan base. Orlando announced a new local TV partnership with Cox Media Group that will put every non-nationally televised regular season game on WFTV Channel 9 and WRDQ TV 27, with the broadcasts also available through YouTube TV, giving fans a free over-the-air option they have not consistently had.
It is a meaningful off-court upgrade for a team trying to keep its momentum connected to the city, especially with a new broadcast group set to handle the games. Dante Marchitelli will lead the crew alongside Kendra Douglas and Jeff Turner, and the coverage will include pregame and postgame content, while the nationally televised matchups will still live on cable or streaming platforms like ABC, ESPN, Prime, and Peacock. Hornets Fans Finally Have Clarity On Watching Games Next Season
After the collapse of Main Street Sport Group, the Orlando Magic have landed on a new short-term home for their games next season, agreeing to a one-year broadcast deal with Cox Media Group for 2026/27. The move gives the franchise a clearer over-the-air setup, with most games set to be carried locally on WRDQ TV 27 and WFTV Channel 9 in Orlando, while the club continues sorting through the finer points of how fans across the market will actually watch.
There is still some work to do before the full picture is complete. The Magic are finalizing additional station arrangements for games that fall outside the primary Orlando lineup, and they are also lining up a direct-to-consumer streaming option that could involve DAZN, which would give fans another way to follow the team beyond the local broadcast window.
