The LA Clippers faced a tough night against the Los Angeles Lakers, dropping their second game since the All-Star break. However, the real concern for the Clippers is the injury status of key players Kawhi Leonard and John Collins.
Kawhi Leonard exited the game with just over five minutes left in the fourth quarter due to left ankle soreness, raising eyebrows as he headed to the locker room. Initially marked as “Questionable” for the upcoming game against the Orlando Magic, there was uncertainty about his availability.
John Collins also had a rough night, suffering a head injury after an alley-oop attempt went awry. With just seconds remaining in the second quarter, he was unintentionally undercut by Jaxson Hayes, resulting in neck soreness and a head laceration. Collins was ruled “Out” for Sunday’s matchup.
In a positive turn, Leonard participated in his regular warm-up routine on Sunday and was upgraded to “Available” for the game against the Magic. Head coach Tyronn Lue provided some relief by confirming that Collins did not suffer a concussion, though he is still dealing with the effects of the laceration, which required stitches.
With Collins sidelined, Kobe Sanders will step into the starting lineup. Meanwhile, Leonard is expected to have limited minutes as he manages the back-to-back schedule and his ankle issue.
Kawhi Leonard WILL play tonight vs. the Magic.

Leonard has been a powerhouse for the Clippers this season, averaging 27.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.0 steals over 43 games. His presence on the court has been crucial, with the Clippers holding a 23-20 record when he plays, compared to a 2-9 record without him.
Collins has also been a solid contributor, playing 53 games and averaging 13.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.0 assist while shooting an impressive 56.5 percent from the field and 42.7 percent from beyond the arc.
As the Clippers navigate these injury challenges, their depth and resilience will be tested. Fans will be watching closely to see how the team adapts and whether Leonard and Collins can return to full strength soon.
