In a tough break for the Orlando Magic, Jonathan Isaac sprained his left knee during Thursday's overtime win against the Washington Wizards. The injury sidelined him for the rest of the game, as confirmed by the team.
Head coach Jamahl Mosley described the moment Isaac went down as heart-wrenching, noting the impact it had on the team's morale. "It took a lot of energy out of our players," Mosley shared, highlighting the emotional weight of the situation.
The Magic reported that an MRI on Thursday confirmed the sprain, and Isaac's return will hinge on how well his knee responds to treatment. There’s a bit of optimism, though, as Isaac was seen walking unassisted in the locker room, according to reports. However, he opted not to speak to the media before leaving.
Isaac has been dealing with left knee issues recently, missing three consecutive games due to soreness. Although he was available for Wednesday's win over Cleveland, he didn't see any action on the court. Mosley mentioned over the weekend that the team is being cautious to prevent any worsening of the condition.
This isn't Isaac's first struggle with knee injuries. He missed two-and-a-half seasons following a torn ACL in the same knee back in 2020.
Prior to Thursday's game, Isaac was averaging 2.6 points and 2.6 rebounds in just over 10 minutes per game across 51 appearances. The Magic and Isaac recently renegotiated his salary protection for the upcoming season, reflecting their ongoing commitment despite his injury challenges.
