The Orlando Magic are gearing up for a Sunday night showdown against the Los Angeles Clippers, with a few challenges on their plate. Jalen Suggs is currently questionable due to back spasms, a situation that adds a layer of uncertainty for the Magic as they head into the second game of a back-to-back.
The game is set to tip off at 9:00 p.m. ET on NBA TV.
Suggs, a dynamic 24-year-old guard, was notably absent from Saturday’s intense 113-110 double-overtime loss to the Phoenix Suns. He last took the court in a commanding 131-94 victory over the Sacramento Kings, where he posted nine points, three rebounds, three assists, and a block. Despite playing only 20 minutes, Suggs was efficient, shooting 3-for-8 overall and 3-for-7 from beyond the arc.
This season, Suggs has been a consistent performer for Orlando, averaging 13.9 points, 5.4 assists, four rebounds, and a career-best 1.9 steals per game. His shooting percentages stand at 44.2% from the field and 32.8% from three-point range, all while logging 26.5 minutes per game.
In addition to Suggs' uncertain status, the Magic will be without Franz Wagner, who is sidelined with a high ankle sprain. The team plans to reevaluate Wagner in three weeks, leaving a gap in their lineup.
Orlando is eager to bounce back from their narrow defeat in Phoenix, a game where they pushed the Suns to the brink despite missing key players.
The Clippers are facing their own injury woes. John Collins is out with a head laceration and neck soreness, while Kawhi Leonard is questionable due to left ankle soreness after their recent 125-122 loss to the Lakers. Darius Garland, recently acquired from the Cleveland Cavaliers in a trade for James Harden, continues to recover from a toe injury and remains unavailable.
As both teams navigate these injuries, player availability could be the deciding factor. The Magic are looking to capitalize on their 29-26 record and maintain momentum on this road trip.
