Oregon States Breakout Stars Just Added To A Growing Program Win

Oregon State strengthens its athletic prowess with a renewed Nike partnership and Blue Ribbon Elite recognition for top athletes.

Oregon State’s long-running partnership with Nike is getting another boost, and two of the Beavers’ biggest offensive stars are now part of the mix.

The school announced Monday that it has extended its relationship with Nike, keeping the company as the official supplier of uniforms, footwear, apparel and equipment for Oregon State’s programs and athletic department. The extension also ties into Blue Ribbon Elite, the NIL program that has added quarterback Braden Atkinson and wide receiver Jesse Legree to its roster.

Blue Ribbon Elite is described as a first-of-its-kind initiative with a broad portfolio of athletes across different sports. The program is built around giving top athletes and universities a higher level of collaboration, with an emphasis on the future of sport and athlete identity.

For Oregon State, the extension adds another chapter to a partnership that has lasted three decades.

“The opportunity for Braden and Jesse to be a part of Nike's Blue Ribbon Elite NIL program is exceptional and an incredible benefit of our relationship,” said Kevin Griffin, Oregon State Vice President and Director of Athletics. “Nike is woven into the fabric of this state, and Oregon State is proud to be a big part of that story. Our shared Oregon roots make this partnership special, and this extension will serve our student-athletes well as our programs continue to strive for success in the Pac-12 and nationwide.”

Atkinson and Legree have been central figures in the national award conversation this season, and their connection on the field has made them one of the most dangerous quarterback-receiver pairings in college football.

Atkinson has thrown for a national-best 2,977 yards and 25 touchdowns. Legree has hauled in 53 catches for 1,110 yards and 14 touchdowns, with both of those marks leading the nation.

Atkinson said, “Being part of Blue Ribbon Elite is an honor, and it means even more because Nike's roots are right here in Oregon. I'm grateful for the people who got me here, including my family, my coaches and my teammates.

Getting to represent Oregon State alongside a brand with this much history in the state is something I don't take for granted. I'm excited to see what we can do together.”

Legree added, “Joining Blue Ribbon Elite is a dream come true, and I get to do it representing Oregon State. I fell in love with this culture, and it's only going to grow from here.

Having Nike in my corner pushes me to work harder every week. We're building something big in Corvallis, and I'm proud to be part of it.”

Kansas State Brings A Volatile Offense Into A Huge Test With Oklahoma State

Kansas States offense has been searching for stability all month, and Collin Klein said the next turn in the rotation will belong to Blake Barnett against Oklahoma State. It will be the Wildcats fourth different starting quarterback in four weeks, a jarring stretch for any team trying to find rhythm, but Klein pointed to Barnetts recent performance and the way he has competed as reasons for confidence heading into a difficult matchup.

The challenge only gets bigger with Oklahoma State on the other side, and Klein made clear the Wildcats cannot afford to drift from who they are. For Kansas State, the priority is staying grounded in its identity while becoming more consistent on both sides of the ball, a familiar coaching message that suddenly carries extra weight in a game with real stakes. Oregon State Heads To Boise With More At Stake Than Expected

The first College Football Playoff rankings offered a clear snapshot of where the Group of Six race stands, and it was Boise State that landed in the spotlight as the lone team from that tier to crack the initial top 25. The Broncos sit at No. 25 and, for now, are projected into an opening-round matchup with Alabama, a reminder of how narrow the path is for the rest of the Group of Six contenders trying to stay in the conversation.

For Oregon State, the trip to Boise carries a little more weight than it might have a few weeks ago. The Beavers are still among the teams tracking the Group of Six picture, but recent results have made the margin for error much thinner, and the latest odds movement reflects that. With Boise State setting the pace and New Mexico and UTSA also in the mix, Oregon State heads in knowing the race is still alive, just less forgiving than it looked before the stumble against Fresno State. Oregon State Gets Its First Real Test Of A New Era

Friday at Gill Coliseum brings the kind of early-season checkpoint that can tell Oregon State a lot about where this rebuilt roster stands. The Beavers are back in the Pac-12 after two years in the WCC, and their opener against Cal Baptist will be the first chance to see how a group with 12 newcomers fits together in a real game setting. Fans can catch it on the Pac-12 YouTube channel, with radio coverage on the Beaver Sports Radio Network.

The transition has been swift, with first-year coach Justin Joyner trying to mold a team that just finished a foreign tour in Canada with three wins. Oregon State has some momentum, but this is still a new era built around a largely unfamiliar roster and a fresh voice on the sideline. The test now is whether that early progress carries over once the games start counting for real. [Read more 🡒]
