Oregon State has landed another major piece in its 2027 recruiting class, with four-star power forward Emmanuel Ahamefule choosing the Beavers just days after four-star combo guard Malcolm Price gave Justin Joyner and his staff their first big win of the week.
Ahamefule, a 6-foot-9 forward from Great Britain who plays at San Francisco (Calif.) Archbishop Riordan, told 247Sports he is headed to Corvallis. He is ranked No. 105 overall in the senior class.
What stood out most to Ahamefule was the way Oregon State mapped out his future.
"Coach Joyner was specific about my development - he believes I can be an NBA prospect and laid out a real plan to get there," Ahamefule told 247Sports. "The strength and conditioning staff backed that up with an actual physical development plan, and meeting the athletic director (Kevin Griffin) showed me the whole program is behind what coach is building. It didn't feel like a pitch - it felt like they already saw who I could become."
Ahamefule’s rise has been a fast one. He entered the spring and summer grassroots season off the radar for 247Sports, then started turning heads with Team Lillard on the adidas 3SSB Circuit. He also impressed at adidas Eurocamp in Treviso, Italy, where his energy stood out in a big way.
His game fits the modern, flexible mold Oregon State is clearly chasing. Ahamefule is described as a long, twitchy athlete and one of the better defenders in the class, and he believes the Beavers see him as more than just a scorer.
"Coach sees me as versatile - someone who can guard multiple spots and create for others, not just score," Ahamefule said. "I think I help most as that connector piece making winning plays and giving the staff flexibility depending on matchups."
For Ahamefule, the commitment carries real meaning after a long climb to this point.
"It's surreal, this was a long process and it feels good to know where home is," he said. "I want the fans to know I'm coming in hungry, not satisfied just to be there. I'm a worker first, and whatever coach needs from me, I'll put the time in to be that guy."
