Oklahoma State is heading back to Charleston this fall, with the Cowboys set to play in the 2026 Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic in November.
It’s a familiar stop for OSU, though the roster looks very different this time around. This will be the third time the Cowboys have been part of the event, and the second time in three years they’ve taken on the inter-conference showcase after Steve Lutz brought his first OSU team there in 2024-25. None of the players from that trip are still on this roster.
The last time the Pokes were in Charleston, they went 1-2. Their run included an 80-74 win over Miami (Fl.) and losses to Florida Atlantic and Nevada.
This year’s field brings Dayton, Minnesota, Northwestern, Utah and Virginia Tech into the mix with Oklahoma State.
The Cowboys have some history with each of those programs. They are 0-2 against Dayton all-time, with both meetings coming on the road and the last one taking place in 1983. The Flyers have put together five straight 20-win seasons and reached the quarterfinals of the NIT last year.
OSU is 3-5 against Minnesota, and the Gophers have won the last two matchups in 2018 and 2019.
Northwestern is the most recent familiar foe. The Cowboys beat the Wildcats 86-81 in the Thanksgiving Classic last November in the teams’ only meeting. Jaylen Curry led the way with 18 points, and five OSU players finished in double figures.
Against Utah, Oklahoma State owns a 6-2 edge all-time and has gone 2-1 since the Utes joined the Big 12 to start the 2024-25 season. The Cowboys swept Utah last season.
Virginia Tech has been a tougher draw. OSU is 0-5 against the Hokies, with every one of those games coming since 2010. The teams last played in Brooklyn in 2022, when Virginia Tech pulled out a 70-65 win.
The Charleston Classic is entering its 18th year and shifted to a two-game format in 2025. The games are set for Friday, Nov. 20 and Sunday, Nov. 22, with matchups and times still to be announced.
