In a tough break for Oregon State, the Beavers might be facing the rest of the season without two key guards. Dez White and Matija Samar missed Saturday’s 83-73 victory over Pepperdine due to injuries, with White nursing a right arm injury and Samar dealing with a right leg issue.
White, who’s been a consistent performer with averages of 9.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists over 27 starts, was spotted with his arm in a sling. Samar, contributing 4.9 points and 2.0 rebounds, was seen using a crutch.
Head Coach Wayne Tinkle shared some insights on their status, saying, “Dez might be doubtful or probable at some point, but I don’t anticipate Matija playing next week. It might even be a long shot for the WCC tournament.
Dez is a bit of a long shot too, but we’re hopeful. Our training staff is working tirelessly, so we’re crossing our fingers for some positive updates.”
With a record of 15-14 overall and 8-8 in conference play, Oregon State is gearing up to host San Diego on Wednesday. They’ll wrap up the regular season at Santa Clara on February 28, before heading into the conference tournament in Las Vegas. The team will need to dig deep as they navigate these challenges, relying on their depth and resilience to make a strong finish.
