Oklahoma State Targets Top In-State Lineman With Early 2028 Offer

Oklahoma State continues to prioritize homegrown talent with an early offer to promising Bixby sophomore Gavin Wilson.

Eric Morris is making waves in the transfer portal, but he's not losing sight of the long game - and that means keeping a close eye on homegrown talent. On Wednesday, Oklahoma State extended an offer to Gavin Wilson, a promising interior offensive lineman out of Bixby High School, who announced the news via his X account.

Wilson, a Class of 2028 prospect, is still early in his recruiting journey and hasn't been assigned any star ratings yet - but that hasn’t stopped major programs from taking notice. At 6-foot-2 and 255 pounds, the Bixby sophomore has already drawn interest from some notable programs.

Purdue was the first to offer back in November, followed by Tulsa in December. Oregon joined the mix on January 7, and Wilson also made an unofficial visit to Oklahoma last fall.

For Oklahoma State, this latest offer is part of a broader commitment to in-state recruiting. Wilson becomes the fourth Oklahoma prospect in the 2028 class to receive an offer from the Cowboys, joining quarterback Creed Barrett (Washington), wide receiver David Thomas (Stillwater), and athlete Kamieon Compton-Nero (Owasso). That’s on top of 13 offers OSU has already extended to in-state players in the 2027 cycle.

Morris and his staff are clearly laying the groundwork for the future, and Wilson’s inclusion in that plan speaks volumes. While he’s still developing physically and technically, his early tape shows a lineman with a strong base, good hand placement, and a motor that doesn’t quit - all traits that college coaches love to build on.

Wilson’s recruitment is just getting started, but with offers already rolling in and multiple Power Five programs showing interest, he’s a name to watch in the years ahead. For now, the Cowboys are making sure they stay in the mix - and keeping their pipeline to Oklahoma talent wide open.
