Haleigh Timmer Stuns as Cowgirls Chase NCAA Tournament Glory

Coach Jacie Hoyt is banking on Haleigh Timmer's clutch tournament prowess as the Cowgirls gear up to confront top-seeded opponents in the NCAA showdown.

In Stillwater, the Cowgirls have turned making the NCAA Tournament into a tradition under coach Jacie Hoyt. But for senior Haleigh Timmer, it's not just about making it-it's about making waves once you're there.

Coach Hoyt highlighted Timmer’s knack for March magic, noting her invaluable experience. "What stood out about Haleigh in the portal was her track record in March. Her veteran presence is going to be crucial for us," Hoyt shared.

Last season, Timmer was part of the South Dakota State team that stunned the Cowgirls, and that's just a glimpse of her March prowess. Back in 2023, she helped South Dakota State topple No. 8 USC in overtime and played a pivotal role in their NIT championship run as a freshman.

As the Cowgirls gear up to face ninth-seeded Princeton, with a potential clash against top-seed UCLA on the horizon, Timmer is embracing the moment. "We want to soak it all in this week and make the most of our time in the tournament," she said, reflecting on her collegiate journey.

Timmer's clutch performance in the Big 12 quarterfinals against BYU showcased her ability to deliver under pressure. She hit two critical 3-pointers, including a game-tying shot, and nailed her free throws, nearly leading a dramatic comeback.

Coach Hoyt praised Timmer’s fearless approach. "Her performance was incredible. She’s fearless and clutch, always ready for the big moments," Hoyt remarked.

Despite the narrow loss, the Cowgirls showed resilience, erasing a five-point deficit in the final seconds. "It demonstrated our competitiveness and will to win," Timmer noted. "We learned a lot from that game, preparing us for the challenges ahead."

Senior teammate Micah Gray echoed the sentiment, emphasizing Timmer’s consistency and leadership. "Her execution in crunch time was amazing. Timmy’s a leader, and you know what to expect from her every game," Gray said.

Timmer, a fixture in the lineup, is second in minutes and fourth in scoring, averaging 11.7 points per game. "Stillwater feels like a second home," Timmer reflected. "I’m grateful for the opportunities and the incredible community here."

As the Cowgirls march into the NCAA Tournament, Timmer’s experience and leadership will be key to their success.
