Oregon’s transfer portal work has become one of the program’s biggest advantages under Dan Lanning, and this year’s haul gives the Ducks another chance to turn outside additions into major pieces.
The Ducks landed 13 commits in their 2026 transfer portal class, a group ranked No. 4 in the Big Ten by 247Sports behind Penn State, Ohio State and Indiana. After back-to-back College Football Playoff appearances, Oregon is again building around the idea that the right transfers can push a roster from good to championship-level.
Two newcomers stand out as players who could make that jump quickly.
On defense, safety Jaden Perich arrives from Minnesota with a résumé that suggests he can step in and matter right away. Over two seasons with the Golden Gophers, he piled up 128 tackles, six interceptions, two forced fumbles and one sack.
That kind of production is hard to ignore, but what really separates him is how much he can do across different coverages. He’s the sort of defensive back who can chase the ball, create turnovers and give a coordinator options.
That matters even more with Oregon entering its first season under new defensive coordinator Chris Hampton. The Ducks do have returning names on that side of the ball, including cornerback Brandon Finney Jr. and linebacker Nasir Wyatt, but Perich still looks like a player who can bring leadership as a newcomer.
Oregon already saw how valuable a transfer safety can be. Last offseason, the Ducks hit on Dillon Thieneman from Purdue, who became one of the top leaders on the defense before being selected No. 25 overall by the Chicago Bears in the 2026 NFL Draft. Perich now has a chance to follow a similar path.
The other transfer with star potential is wide receiver Iverson Hooks, who comes over from UAB. Oregon is trying to build what could be one of the best receiver rooms in college football, and Hooks joins a group that already includes Dakorien Moore, Jeremiah McClellan and Evan Stewart.
Hooks brings real production with him. In 2025, he finished among the AAC’s top wideouts with 72 catches for 927 yards and seven touchdowns. That kind of season makes him more than just depth; he gives the Ducks another weapon in an offense that will need plenty of them if it’s going to make a national championship run.
With so much talent around him, Hooks could become an important piece in both the regular season and the CFP. Oregon’s offense has options, and he looks like one more that can matter in a big way.
