Oregon’s 2028 recruiting work is about to get a live look this weekend, and one of the biggest names on campus is already shaping up as a major Ducks priority.
With the season opener set for Saturday, Eugene will double as a recruiting stop for a wide range of five-star prospects, quarterback targets and current commits. Oregon spent the summer putting together its 2027 class, which now sits fourth in the country, but the fall is where the 2028 cycle really starts to take shape. If the Ducks are going to land early commitments, this is the stretch where it has to begin.
One of the headliners is Landen Wade, the Arizona native and Basha Bears standout who has quickly become a player Oregon is pushing hard for. Wade’s Basha team beat Will Mencl in last season’s state championship, then opened this season on ESPN, giving the Ducks another chance to study him closely. In that game, Wade and the Basha defensive front were relentless, and Wade was involved in a hit that knocked Mencl out of the game with an injury.
The buzz around Wade is real, and Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong put Oregon near the front of the line last week.

According to Rivals’ Industry Recruiting Rankings, Wade is the 31st-ranked player in the country, the fifth-ranked defensive lineman in the class and the third-ranked player out of Arizona.
For Oregon, the appeal is obvious. Dan Lanning and his staff came up short on several top defensive tackle prospects in the 2027 cycle, and landing a player like Wade would be a major step in strengthening the Ducks’ interior pipeline. This weekend gives Oregon a prime chance to make that case in person.

Defensive coordinator Chris Hampton and edge coach Kamran Araghi landed five-star edge rusher Rashad Streets out of Milbrook High School in Raleigh, North Carolina, beating out Alabama, Ohio State and NC State for one of the top defensive prospects in the 2027 class.
