The Oregon Ducks’ new “Origin of Speed” uniforms are built to stand out, but the loudest parts aren’t the only parts worth noticing. Released Tuesday after two years in the making, the jerseys close out the “Generation O” series and fold in a handful of details that connect Oregon’s past, present and future to Nike.
At first glance, the look is defined by its dark base and sharp contrast. What appears to be black is actually Nike’s darkest green, “Night Forest,” with silver accents and a new Oregon color called “Green Strike” cutting through the design. Oregon also unveiled a nearly nine-minute video explaining the inspiration behind the uniform.
Some of the most meaningful touches are tucked into the shoulders. The Oregon “O” includes the track of the original Hayward Field, outlined with the six lanes from the old surface.
Nike also said two of those lanes are highlighted as a tribute to Khyree Jackson and Spencer Webb. Webb wore No. 4 at Oregon, Jackson wore No. 5, and the two lanes reflect those numbers in a different color.
Oregon already honors both players with helmet stickers showing their jersey numbers, and Nike has also created special-edition gloves for Webb, but this is the first time the pair has been recognized on the jerseys themselves.
The pants carry their own nod to Oregon identity. “Oregon” is written across them, and the usual leg stripe has been replaced by green and yellow striping.
The angle of those elements matters, too. Nike described it as the “Oregon Angle of Attack,” with the side panels leaning forward rather than back to symbolize a first-place finish.
That detail traces to De’Anthony Thomas’ kick-return touchdown against Kansas State in the 2013 Fiesta Bowl, when he acted out breaking the finish-line tape.
Nike’s history is woven in as well. The company’s origins with Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman have long been tied to Bowerman’s waffle-iron shoe experiments, and that waffle pattern has shown up before on Oregon uniforms, including the gloves of the Ducks’ “Shoe Duck” uniforms that honored Knight. This time, the numbers themselves feature waffle-print perforation, and they’re also rendered in “Green Strike” as Oregon and Nike continue mixing tradition with innovation.
The “Origin of Speed” uniforms will debut after Oregon’s bye week when the Ducks host No. 23 UCLA on Oct.

Week 4 offered a reminder that Oregons roster churn has reached far beyond Eugene, with several former Ducks making their presence felt for new teams. The most visible example came in the win over USC, where backup quarterback Dylan Raiola helped lead the way with 289 passing yards and two touchdowns, a performance that put his transfer path back into the spotlight.
Raiola was hardly alone in turning heads. Kingston Lopa, Kamar Mothudi, Sione Laulea, Makhi Hughes, Keith Brown, Jericho Johnson and Blake Purchase all turned in meaningful work for their new programs, adding another layer to Oregons transfer-era story. Oregon Just Teased A New Look Bruins Fans Need To See
During the bye week, Oregon used a little downtime to stir up plenty of offseason-style intrigue, teasing a new alternate look that fits right into the programs long-running habit of making uniforms part of the brand. The matte black jersey features green and yellow paint streaks, along with a nod to the origin of speed inside the collar, a clear callback to the Chip Kelly era that helped define a lot of what the Ducks became.
The timing makes the tease even more interesting, with the full reveal expected on September 29 and a possible debut lined up for the October 10 matchup with UCLA. A version of the jersey had already surfaced through Dicks Sporting Goods, both online and in some stores, so the only real mystery now is how Oregon plans to package the finished product when it officially goes public.
