Oregon Offensive Lineman Lipe Moala Enters Transfer Portal After Limited Action

As Oregon prepares for its College Football Playoff clash with Texas Tech, another roster shift emerges with Lipe Moala's decision to enter the transfer portal.

Oregon Offensive Lineman Lipe Moala Enters Transfer Portal Ahead of CFP Clash

As Oregon gears up for its biggest game of the season, the Ducks will be doing it without one of their young offensive linemen. Reserve guard Lipe Moala has entered the transfer portal and won’t be with the team for the remainder of the College Football Playoff.

Moala, a 6-foot-5, 336-pound interior lineman, saw limited action over his two seasons in Eugene. He played in six games total, logging 10 snaps early this season before falling out of the rotation.

He wasn’t part of the Ducks’ travel squad down the stretch, and his last game action came in the early part of the year. In 2024, he played 13 snaps across four games.

A three-star recruit in the 2023 class, Moala was ranked the No. 68 interior offensive lineman nationally and No. 796 overall. He still has two years of eligibility remaining, and at his size, there’s likely to be interest from programs looking to add depth and upside to their offensive front.

Moala’s departure marks the seventh scholarship player to leave Oregon this offseason. He joins a list that includes defensive backs Jahlil Florence, Dakoda Fields, Solomon Davis, Sione Laulea, and Kingston Lopa, as well as wide receiver Justius Lowe. Despite the exits, Oregon is still projected to have 85 scholarship players heading into 2026, including 15 offensive linemen-so the cupboard is far from bare.

The Ducks, sitting at 12-1 and ranked No. 5, are locked in on their upcoming CFP showdown against No. 4 Texas Tech, also 12-1.

The matchup is set for Thursday, January 1 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 a.m.

PT, and the game will be broadcast on ESPN. Fans can also catch it via streaming on DIRECTV or Sling, though availability may vary depending on your region.

While Moala’s departure won’t shake the foundation of Oregon’s offensive line heading into the playoff, it’s another reminder of how fluid rosters can be in the transfer portal era. For Moala, it’s a chance to find a fresh start. For Oregon, it’s full steam ahead toward Miami.
