Oregon May Have Quietly Built Its Most Dangerous Position Group

Oregon's wide receiver corps, bolstered by talented returnees and promising newcomers, is poised to be a formidable force in the upcoming season.

Oregon’s receiver room is starting to look downright nasty.

The Ducks have been stacking talent all summer, and the wideout group is the clearest example of how deep this roster has become. They were already in good shape with returners and transfers, but after the latest wave of additions, this might be the most dangerous collection of pass-catchers in the bunch.

A big reason for that is what happened last season. Injuries forced some younger players into bigger roles, and those reps paid off. Now Oregon heads toward September with a group that has already been tested and produced.

Dakorian Moore was one of the biggest breakout freshmen in 2025. He played in 11 games, started seven, and finished with 34 catches for 497 yards and three touchdowns. Moore stepped into the void left by Evan Stewart, who had a breakout 2024 season as a transfer but missed all of 2025.

Before that injury sidelined him, Stewart put together a strong 2024 campaign of his own. He appeared in 13 games, started 12, and posted 48 receptions for 613 yards and five touchdowns. Put Moore and Stewart together, and opposing secondaries have plenty to worry about.

Jeremiah McClellan gives Oregon another proven piece. The redshirt freshman came into his own in 2025, playing in all 15 games and starting nine.

He ended the year with 38 catches for 557 yards and three touchdowns. That means Oregon is bringing back three receivers who each topped 30 receptions and nearly 500 yards or better in their previous season.

Hoo-rah!

The Ducks didn’t stop there. They also added Iverson Hooks from UAB through the Transfer Portal. Hooks brings a different look as something of a hybrid, and his 2025 production jumps off the page: 72 catches for 927 yards and seven touchdowns.

And the recruiting haul was strong too. Oregon landed 4-star Messiah Hampton in the 2026 class. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound receiver from Rochester was named Gatorade Player of the Year in New York, and he could see meaningful action as a true freshman.

Another name to watch is 4-star Jalen Lott from Frisco, Texas. He’s a multi-sport athlete with track and field experience at both the high school and Junior Olympics level, and he’s put together back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. He’s another freshman who may be ready to get on the field early.

Oregon Fans Have Every Right To Be Furious Over Brandon Finney Jr

Pro Football Focus latest preseason list is the kind of ranking that invites a double take, especially when it comes to defensive playmakers. The outlets top five ball hawks for 2026 included Leonard Moore, Bryce Fitzgerald, Brice Pollock, John Nestor and Jaquez White, a group that will get plenty of attention as the season approaches.

What stands out for Oregon is the absence of Brandon Finney Jr., who has still been treated like one of the sports premier defensive backs entering 2026. PFF had him high on its overall Preseason College 50, and he has already collected major preseason recognition elsewhere, so leaving him off a list built around turnover-hungry defenders is the sort of omission Ducks fans are not likely to forget anytime soon. Oregon Is Locked In A High-Stakes Battle For A Blue-Chip EDGE

Oregons recruiting board at edge rusher keeps getting more important, and Elijah Tillman has emerged as one of the names worth watching. The four-star prospect has offers from the Ducks and Miami, and both programs are working to position themselves well as he weighs his next steps. Oregon got involved in April 2026, while Miamis offer dates back to January 2025, giving this one enough history to feel like a real two-team fight rather than a late scramble.

For the Ducks, the appeal goes beyond adding another talented defender. They are planning ahead for possible roster turnover at edge rusher and view Tillman as a player who could fit into that next wave. He is expected to visit both schools, and with the two programs still very much in the mix, Oregon has a chance to make a strong impression before this recruitment starts to narrow. [Read more 🡒]
