Oregon is already making noise in the 2028 recruiting race, and four-star offensive tackle Aden Owolabi has the Ducks sitting near the front of the pack.
Owolabi told Rivals (subscription required) that Oregon is an early leader, with USC and Oklahoma also in the mix. The 6-6 lineman from Danville, California, is ranked by 247 Sports as the No. 52 overall recruit in the 2028 class.
What makes Oregon’s position notable is how fast this recruitment has moved. Owolabi didn’t have any offers earlier in the spring, but things picked up quickly this summer.
The Ducks brought him in for a camp in June and followed that up with an offer. He is also expected to return to Eugene for a fall visit during one of Oregon’s home games.
Texas A&M added another major offer on Sunday, a sign that Owolabi’s profile is continuing to climb nationally. With Big Ten and SEC programs already involved, Oregon’s early work could matter as it tries to keep the talented tackle out west.
The Ducks have had plenty of success landing elite offensive linemen under A'lique Terry, and their willingness to play several young linemen this season may only help that pitch. Oregon does not yet have a commitment in the 2028 class, but it does already hold four offensive line pledges in the 2027 group.
For now, Owolabi doesn’t have a decision timeline. Still, Oregon looks like it will remain a major factor as his recruitment develops this fall.
