Oregon Fans Can't Believe What Turned Up In One Forgotten Ducks Stash

Discover how a Eugene native turned a $500 gamble on a storage unit into a viral sensation with a treasure trove of exclusive Oregon Duck memorabilia.

A five-by-five storage unit in Eugene turned into a jackpot for reseller Steven Laisure, and the haul was so loaded with Oregon Ducks gear that it quickly took off online.

Laisure, who posts as @stevens_thrifting_journey, said he and his wife, Felicia, found the unit for sale on storeageauctions.com back in June. The pictures caught his eye right away, but they also made him cautious. He figured the Nike sneaker boxes might be empty, yet he still decided to place a bid.

"I knew just from what I saw from the pictures. This wasn’t an average storage unit, it looked a lot more to me, but also very risky! Anytime you see pictures of a storage unit up for sale and they show very nice collectibles Out in the open and very obvious, sometimes that can be a red flag," Laisure said in an exclusive interview with Oregon Duck on Sports Illustrated's Ally Osborne.

"And at that point I still had no idea if there were shoes in there. I just knew for sure I won minimum of a jacket and a few bags of clothing?" He added.

He paid $500 for the unit, and when he got inside, he realized he’d struck something far bigger than a few boxes of apparel. Laisure said the locker had belonged to a former University of Oregon men's basketball athlete, and the contents were packed with team-issued clothing, backpacks and authentic shoes.

"A lot of team issued clothing items, and backpacks. Not to mention all of the authentic shoes.

There’s some crazy stuff in there! The Oregon ducks merch, and the shoes I would say are the main highlights of the unit," Laisure said.

The stash also included designer items, among them green, brown and black Bape sneakers and all-black Balenciaga sneakers.

Laisure filmed the entire find for his Youtube channel, and a photo of him standing beside the piles of Oregon gear spread fast across social media. The response, he said, was mostly positive, though not everyone was impressed.

"I would say social media loved seeing what I got from the storage unit," Laisure said. "I would say about 95 percent of everyone was very happy for me and couldn’t believe what I got.

The other 5 percent I would say I got a little mixed reactions from people. I had some people call me a thief, and I’ve had a few hateful emails and messages from people claiming it was their storage unit and they want it all back which obviously, they are all liars."

The find has already turned into a profit, too. Laisure said he sold one pair of Nike Dunk Oregon Duck DOAF PE's in a size 14 for $399.99 on his eBay account. Even so, he says he knows who used to own the stash and is thinking about giving some of it back.

"I have not contacted the athlete yet," Laisure shared. "You hear a lot of stories about people doing that and sometimes they can open the big can of worms and cause a lot of problems. However, after the dust has settled for a little bit, I am considering trying to reach out to the athlete to at least give him his Letterman‘s jacket back and maybe a few other sentimental items."

For Laisure, the frenzy around the discovery speaks to how far Oregon’s brand reaches. He said vintage Ducks gear is highly desirable, especially true vintage made in USA apparel, and he pointed to the program’s long-running connection with Nike as part of the appeal.

"As a collector and reseller, vintage Oregon ducks merch, I would say this stuff is very sought after," Laisure said. "People want true vintage, made in USA apparel, especially Oregon Ducks.

People wanna see the old school Disney Donald Duck. But one of my favorite things about living in Eugene is, always finding the very rare Nike pieces that are in the area."

The outlets top five ball hawks for 2026 included Leonard Moore, Bryce Fitzgerald, Brice Pollock, John Nestor and Jaquez White, a group that will get plenty of attention as the season approaches.

What stands out for Oregon is the absence of Brandon Finney Jr., who has still been treated like one of the sports premier defensive backs entering 2026. PFF had him high on its overall Preseason College 50, and he has already collected major preseason recognition elsewhere, so leaving him off a list built around turnover-hungry defenders is the sort of omission Ducks fans are not likely to forget anytime soon. Oregon Is Locked In A High-Stakes Battle For A Blue-Chip EDGE

Oregons recruiting board at edge rusher keeps getting more important, and Elijah Tillman has emerged as one of the names worth watching. The four-star prospect has offers from the Ducks and Miami, and both programs are working to position themselves well as he weighs his next steps. Oregon got involved in April 2026, while Miamis offer dates back to January 2025, giving this one enough history to feel like a real two-team fight rather than a late scramble.

For the Ducks, the appeal goes beyond adding another talented defender. They are planning ahead for possible roster turnover at edge rusher and view Tillman as a player who could fit into that next wave. He is expected to visit both schools, and with the two programs still very much in the mix, Oregon has a chance to make a strong impression before this recruitment starts to narrow. [Read more 🡒]
