Dan Lanning Just Got A Glimmer Of Hope In Huge Recruiting Battle

The recruitment battle for five-star offensive tackle Ismael Camara intensifies as Oregon fans hold onto hope following a social media hint, despite Texas being the frontrunner.

Oregon’s June recruiting surge already gave Dan Lanning and the Ducks their first five-star commitments of the month, but the staff may not be done chasing elite talent up front. One of the biggest names still on the board is five-star offensive tackle Ismael Camara, and his latest post on X gave Oregon fans a reason to keep believing.

Camara shared a photo of himself in an Oregon jacket on June 29, a small but notable signal in a recruitment that has started to tilt toward Texas. His post included the caption: “2 miles ✅,Lift✅,field session✅ pic.twitter.com/a1jLtDNqzCz”

That kind of buzz matters because Oregon already took a hit when Camara canceled all of his visits, including the official trip the Ducks were hoping to host. Without that chance to bring him back to Eugene, the Ducks saw their position weaken, especially with the Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies both closer to his high school home in Gilmer, Texas.

Still, Oregon has not vanished from the picture. Camara visited Eugene in April for the program’s Spring Game, and that trip appeared to put the Ducks in strong shape at the time. He posted photos with former Oregon offensive lineman and current Detroit Lions star Penei Sewell, along with Lanning, after that visit.

For a while, Rivals had Oregon as the favorite. That changed in June, when Texas began to build real momentum.

Rivals recruiting analysts Steve Wiltfong and Sam Spiegelman both submitted predictions for the Longhorns to land Camara, and Spiegelman reported that Oregon’s staff continues to FaceTime him regularly while Texas has gained ground. Spiegelman also said Camara could make his decision in the “next few weeks.”

The Rivals prediction machine now gives Texas a 75.9 percent chance to land Camara, with Oregon sitting at 18.8 percent. Even with those numbers, the Ducks aren’t expected to back off.

If Lanning can get Camara back on campus, Oregon could quickly change the feel of this race again. The Oregon gear Camara wore in his post is at least one sign that the Ducks are still in the mix.

And there’s a bigger reason Oregon would love to keep pushing here: the trenches are already shaping up nicely for the Ducks’ 2027 class. Offensive line coach A’lique Terry has landed commitments from three-star offensive tackle Avery Michael, four-star center Gus Corsair, four-star tackle Cameron Wagner, and most recently, three-star guard Lex Mailangi.

Adding Camara would make it five offensive line commits in the class and give Oregon a second straight class with a five-star offensive line recruit.

The Ducks already hold five-star commitments from receiver Dakota Guerrant, who committed after his official visit in June, and edge rusher Rashad Streets. Meanwhile, five-star cornerback Hayden Stepp and five-star receiver Xavier Sabb are both predicted to choose Oregon, with decisions approaching.

Oregon Just Got The Kind Of Break Fans Have Waited For

The Big Tens grip on the college football title picture has been hard to miss, with the league winning three straight national championships from three different schools. Oregon has spent the last several seasons building the rsum to join that conversation, stringing together six straight double-digit win years and reaching the College Football Playoff in each of the last two seasons, all while Dan Lannings program keeps nudging closer to the sports top tier.

Now the Ducks are positioned to make another run at that breakthrough in 2026, with Dante Moore expected to be the centerpiece under center. Oregon has been here before, only to run into the same postseason wall, but this time the combination of continuity and ambition makes the opportunity feel different for a team that has been chasing the same finish line for years. Former Oregon First Rounder Already Facing An NFL Setback

Kenyon Sadiqs arrival in the NFL has come with a little more uncertainty than the Jets probably wanted after making him a first-round pick in 2026. The former Oregon tight end is expected to be ready for training camp, but offseason recovery has already put him in catch-up mode, which is hardly ideal for a rookie trying to carve out a role before the pads come on.

For Oregon fans, it is another reminder that even the most promising pro transitions can get complicated fast. Sadiq was viewed as one of the better young pieces in New Yorks offensive plan, and the team still likes the matchup potential he brings. Still, starting behind because of recovery means the next phase of his development will be about making up ground, not just showing why he was drafted so highly. [Read more 🡒]

Oregon Recruiting Momentum Just Took A Hit On A Huge Day

A busy recruiting day brought a mixed result for Oregon, which saw one of its offensive line targets come off the board after building a class with several front-line additions already in place. The Ducks have been able to shift some attention to other needs as the board tightens, and that broader approach has kept momentum alive even when one pursuit doesn't break their way.

Still, the day is far from over in Eugene, where a pair of coveted cornerbacks are expected to make their decisions later. With the offensive line room largely addressed, those defensive announcements now loom as the next chance for Oregon to turn a setback into a bigger win for its 2025 class. [Read more 🡒]
