Trinidad Chambliss is back in the spotlight, and Ole Miss fans have reason to celebrate. A Mississippi judge has cleared the way for the standout quarterback to return for another season, following his impressive leadership that took the Rebels to their first-ever College Football Playoff appearance in 2025-26. This decision has sent ripples through the Heisman Trophy odds, with Chambliss now a top contender.
As of Monday, Chambliss shares the favorite spot with Notre Dame's CJ Carr at +800 odds on FanDuel Sportsbook, surpassing Texas quarterback Arch Manning, who sits at +950. Over at Caesars, Chambliss is also at +800, trailing behind Carr and Manning, both at +700.
Interestingly, Chambliss hasn't yet appeared in the Heisman markets for BetMGM or DraftKings, where Carr leads the pack at +700 and Carr and Manning are tied at +750, respectively.
Prediction markets reacted swiftly to the ruling. Chambliss initially leaped ahead of Manning on Kalshi, boasting a 15 percent probability compared to Manning's 13 percent. However, Manning has edged back slightly ahead, holding a 14 percent probability, with Chambliss at 13 percent and Carr at 11 percent.
At 24, Chambliss is gearing up for his sixth season when Ole Miss kicks off against Louisville in September. His journey took a pivotal turn last year when he stepped in for the injured Austin Simmons.
Chambliss delivered an impressive 3,937 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and just three interceptions, while also rushing for eight touchdowns. This performance propelled Ole Miss to the CFP semifinals, even after head coach Lane Kiffin's departure to LSU.
The Rebels' No. 3 AP ranking marked their highest in over six decades.
Before the ruling, a poll of 28 Athletic college football writers and editors gave Chambliss just two votes for the Heisman. However, his return changes the landscape dramatically.
CJ Carr remains a strong Heisman contender after leading Notre Dame to a 10-2 record. Meanwhile, Arch Manning, despite a rollercoaster 2025 season, is still in the mix with considerable expectations.
Keep an eye on Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, listed at +1400 for the Heisman at BetMGM. Smith, who finished sixth in last season’s voting, was the top choice among The Athletic’s writers and editors, receiving 11 of 28 votes.
With 163 catches, 2,558 yards, and 27 touchdowns in two seasons, Smith could lead Ohio State to the top spot nationally. Though only four wide receivers have ever claimed the Heisman, two have done so in this decade, making Smith a compelling candidate.
