David Pollack isn’t shy about what he thinks of Trinidad Chambliss.
With SEC Media Days rolling through Tampa and Ole Miss set to take its turn on Wednesday, Pollack used his podcast, See Ball Get Ball, to make a big statement about the Rebels quarterback: he called Chambliss the best quarterback in the country entering the 2026 season.
“I don’t know if everybody is going to agree with this. Numero uno, man, it’s Trinidad Chambliss.
He’s the guy outside of (Fernando) Mendoza you didn’t want to see (last season). I get the point guard (factor), I get the arm.
I get the experience. I get the legs.
But also get the ability to extend plays and make that extra it factor. That thing that he can do that other people can’t do.
He’s an adult. He’s a pro.
He’s been there, done that. He’s been at a lower level, now at a higher level, like he’s excited to be there.
He’s mature, like everything about him is good.”
Pollack’s praise carries some weight. He spent his playing days at Georgia from 2001-04, where he became a 2-time All-American linebacker and piled up just about every major honor available in his final season. These days he’s in the analyst chair, but he still knows elite talent when he sees it.
Chambliss certainly gave Ole Miss plenty to build on last season. After transferring from Division II Ferris State, where he played from 2021-24, he led the Rebels to the College Football Playoff semifinals and put together a huge first year in the SEC. He threw 22 touchdown passes against just 3 interceptions, finished with 3,937 passing yards and added 527 rushing yards with 8 more scores on the ground.
Now he’s back in Oxford and ready for another run, with Wednesday giving him the spotlight as one of Ole Miss’ player representatives at Media Days. Soon after, the real test comes on the field, where Chambliss will try to back up Pollack’s claim in 2026.
He’ll also be trying to push Ole Miss back into the SEC title conversation. The Kalshi market is currently tracking the Rebels’ chances of breaking through and winning that elusive conference championship in December with Chambliss leading the way.

At SEC Media Days, Kirby Smart took a moment to tip his cap to the work Lane Kiffin did at Ole Miss, and in the process he put a spotlight on Trinidad Chambliss, whose rise last season gave the Rebels a new layer of intrigue. Chambliss became a key part of the conversation after injuries opened the door for him, and now his place in the offense is one of the biggest reasons there is real curiosity around what Ole Miss can be under first-year head coach Pete Golding.
