The opening question is already sitting there waiting for him: the transfer portal dispute involving Clemson linebacker Luke Ferrelli and the tampering accusations aimed at Ole Miss.
That story became one of the biggest offseason flashpoints in college football after Clemson coach Dabo Swinney accused Golding and the Rebels of making contact with Ferrelli. Swinney said Golding personally reached out to the player and even sent details of the NIL deal while Ferrelli was still with the Tigers. He also said he had text messages and timetables to back it up.
Golding has pushed back by defending Ole Miss’ compliance with the rules, while also saying any issue should be handled through the NCAA’s enforcement process rather than through public accusations.
Whatever comes of the investigation, the situation now follows Golding into his first season with the Rebels.
