Ole Miss linebacker Luke Ferrelli did not come out with the Rebels to start the second half against Auburn on Oct. 31, after leaving the game early in the first half.
No. 12 Ole Miss was up 14-9 at halftime against the Tigers, and Ferrelli had already spent time on the sideline on an exercise bike before briefly going into the medical tent. He was back on the bike shortly before the break.
Ferrelli entered the game against Auburn and started, but he was out of action early. Before leaving, he recorded two tackles, including one tackle for loss.
The Rebels listed Ferrelli on the availability report Oct. 30 as probable with an unspecified injury, then removed him from the report before kickoff.
Ferrelli is usually the second starting linebacker for Ole Miss alongside Keaton Thomas, with Tah'j Butler also rotating in frequently.
The junior linebacker came into the week ranked No. 2 on the team with 44 tackles. He also had half a sack and one pass breakup.
Ferrelli’s name had already surfaced in a separate storyline earlier this year, when Clemson coach Dabo Swinney made a detailed tampering accusation involving Ole Miss and coach Pete Golding during a January press conference.
Swinney said Ole Miss contacted Ferrelli even though he was already enrolled at Clemson as a transfer from Cal. He said Golding texted Ferrelli during an 8 a.m. class at Clemson with the message, "I know you're signed.
What's the buyout?" along with a picture of a $1 million contract.
Swinney also said former Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart and current quarterback Trinidad Chambliss contacted Ferrelli before he re-entered the transfer portal and signed with the Rebels.
An NCAA investigation is ongoing, and tampering can rise to a Level I violation, the NCAA’s most serious misconduct threshold.

Ole Miss Has A New Backfield Name Fans Need To Know
Shekai Mills-Knight has become a name Ole Miss fans are hearing more often in the backfield, and the sophomore took another step forward in the first half against Auburn. With Kewan Lacy sidelined by injury, Mills-Knight has seen his playing time rise, and he made the most of the opportunity with a career-high 55 rushing yards and a touchdown before halftime.
A Montreal native who played high school football at Baylor School in Tennessee, Mills-Knight arrived in Oxford as a four-star member of the 2025 class. For a Rebels offense adjusting to life without its usual lead back, his emergence gives the staff another option to lean on while the depth chart continues to sort itself out. [Read more 🡒]
Ole Miss Just Landed In The Arch Manning Rumor Storm
Arch Manning has suddenly become part of a familiar SEC rumor cycle, with chatter around his future picking up after a difficult 2026 season at Texas. The speculation gained more traction when former ESPN analyst David Pollack said an SEC coach had floated the idea that Manning could leave the Longhorns, and even mentioned Georgia as a possible landing spot. For Ole Miss fans, the interesting part is not just the noise, but the fact that their program has also been mentioned by insiders as a potential destination.
For now, Manning has not said anything publicly and remains committed to Texas, which is why the rumor mill is doing most of the talking. Still, when a quarterback with his name value gets linked to multiple SEC schools, it naturally catches attention across the league, especially in Oxford, where any quarterback opening or transfer possibility becomes part of the conversation fast. Ole Miss Just Caught Auburn Off Guard In The Worst Way
Ole Miss found a way to turn a grind-it-out drive into one of the strangest scores of the night, with defensive tackle Will Echoles rumbling in for a rushing touchdown on a third-and-goal play. The sequence capped a 17-play, 89-yard march that had already started to wear on Auburn, and it gave the Rebels a jolt in a game that had been defined by physical, back-and-forth football.
Auburn answered with a touchdown on its next possession, keeping the pressure on and making sure the scoreline stayed tight. The game also had the kind of momentum swings that can change everything in a hurry, with an interception and a fumble adding to the tension as both sides looked for a clean stretch to seize control.
