Ole Miss put its College Football Playoff run on display with championship-style rings on Wednesday, and the reaction was brutal.
The Rebels’ 2024 postseason was a real ride: they rolled past Tulane, shocked SEC champion Georgia, and then fell just short against Miami in the semifinals. To mark that stretch, the program handed out rings to the players and coaches who were part of the run. The design featured the Ole Miss logo set in a red stone on top of a football-shaped face covered in gems.
But instead of getting applause, Ole Miss got roasted.
Fans lit up X and mocked the idea of commemorating a fourth-place finish in the College Football Playoff. “This has to be AI, right?
I guess when you never win a national championship, you go the participation trophy route! 😂 What an embarrassment,” one user wrote.
Another added, “Semi final rings? lmao this is just pathetic,” while a third posted, “Wait.. y’all make participation rings?

Ole Miss clearly wanted to honor a memorable run, but plenty of fans weren’t buying the celebration. The consensus online was simple: unless the Rebels turn that semifinal appearance into something bigger, the rings are going to keep looking like participation trophies to everybody else.
