Ole Miss Just Got More Fuel For Its Georgia Showdown

In a pivotal SEC matchup, Georgia aims to strengthen their playoff contention while Ole Miss seeks a crucial upset under the lights.

Georgia is heading to Oxford with the early edge in the betting market, even before the Bulldogs and Rebels settle it on the field Saturday night.

Circa Sports opened Georgia as a 3.5-point road favorite over Ole Miss for the Week 10 showdown, with the total set at 56.5 points. The No.

2 Bulldogs and No. 12 Rebels are set for a primetime kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

ET on ABC in what shapes up as one of the SEC’s biggest games of the season.

Both teams arrive with plenty of momentum. Georgia is 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the SEC after dismantling Florida in Week 9. Ole Miss comes in at 6-2 overall and 4-2 in conference play after a 45-15 win over Auburn in Oxford.

That victory kept the Rebels at home for this week’s matchup, and now they get their biggest test yet in front of their own crowd. A win over Georgia would put Ole Miss in position to chase the SEC title and a spot in the College Football Playoff.

The flip side is just as stark. A loss would almost certainly knock the Rebels out of that picture, handing them a third defeat of the season and leaving very little room for error the rest of the way.

So the stage is set: Georgia as the early favorite, Ole Miss with everything on the line, and a Saturday night atmosphere that should feel like a pressure cooker from the opening snap.

Ole Miss Suddenly Has A Tony Mitchell Question It Didnt Expect

Ole Miss has a new roster issue to sort through after transfer linebacker Tony Mitchell was removed from the team in late September for reasons the program has not disclosed. Mitchell arrived in Oxford with plenty of name recognition, having once been a five-star recruit before stops at Mississippi State and East Mississippi Community College brought him back into the SEC picture.

He did appear in games for the Rebels, but he did not log any snaps in the 2025 season before his roster spot disappeared. For a team trying to keep its defensive depth intact, the timing makes Mitchell one more unexpected question to monitor as the season moves forward. [Read more 🡒]

Ole Miss Faces A Huge Kewan Lacy Problem Against Georgia

Kewan Lacys status has become one of the biggest Ole Miss storylines heading into a matchup with No. 2 Georgia, with coach Pete Golding saying the running back is unlikely to play because of a left shoulder injury. Lacy has been working back from a dislocated shoulder he sustained on Oct. 24, and he already sat out the previous game against Auburn, leaving the Rebels to adjust their backfield without one of their most important pieces.

If Lacy is held out again, Makhi Frazier and Shekai Mills-Knight are expected to split the rushing workload in his place. For Ole Miss, the issue is not just replacing carries, but trying to do it against a Georgia defense that rarely gives much away, which makes Lacys availability a key subplot as the Rebels prepare for one of their toughest tests. Ole Miss Just Built Early In-State Momentum After The Auburn Win

Ole Miss kept the good vibes rolling off the Auburn win with another recruiting boost, landing 2029 class defender Jordan Husband out of Brooklyn, Mississippi. The Forrest County Agriculture High School standout has been on the Rebels radar with offers from Ole Miss and Florida State, and his commitment adds another early in-state win for a staff that has been working to strengthen its local footprint.

Husbands decision comes with plenty of runway still ahead, but the appeal was clear enough for him to make the call now. He pointed to his connection with the coaching staff and the environment around the program as major reasons for choosing Ole Miss, and the Rebels are getting a young defensive prospect who has already put together notable production this season while playing for Forrest County Agriculture.
