LSU may be heading into one of the biggest games on its schedule without its starting quarterback.
Sam Leavitt is listed as doubtful for the Tigers’ matchup against Ole Miss, according to the SEC injury report released Sept. 16.
LSU and the No. 9 Rebels are set to meet Sept. 19 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on ABC.
The game also comes with Lane Kiffin’s return, adding even more buzz to a matchup already carrying major national attention.
The report does not specify what injury Leavitt is dealing with.
Leavitt, a transfer from Arizona State, has been LSU’s starter through the first two games. He has gone 41 of 66 for 574 yards with two touchdowns and four interceptions, while also adding 135 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns on 23 carries.
If LSU has to turn elsewhere, Landen Clark is the next man up. Clark has served as the backup in the first two games and has completed 7 of 10 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown.
He has also run for 42 yards and a score on seven carries. The 6-foot, 198-pound junior transferred to LSU from Elon, where he passed for 2,231 yards and 18 touchdowns as a sophomore.
There are other injury notes worth watching on both sides. LSU linebacker TJ Dottery is listed as questionable, while Ole Miss backup running back Makhi Frazier is also questionable.
The rest of the SEC report includes several more names. Ole Miss wide receiver Phillip Wright III is out, along with LSU linebacker Jaiden Braker and LSU running back Raycine Guillory Jr. LSU tight end Trey'Dez Green, linebacker Whit Weeks, linebacker Davhon Keys and offensive lineman Aliou Bah are all listed as probable.
The SEC requires teams to release injury reports every Wednesday, with updates on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
