OXFORD - With Kewan Lacy sidelined by a shoulder injury, Shekai Mills-Knight has stepped into the spotlight for Ole Miss and made the most of it against Auburn.
The 6-foot-1, 220-pound sophomore delivered a breakout first half on Oct. 31 as No. 12 Ole Miss (5-2, 3-2 SEC) took a 14-9 lead into halftime against Auburn (4-3, 2-3) on SEC Network. Mills-Knight piled up 12 carries for 55 yards, both a career high in yardage, and finished the half with a touchdown from the Auburn 1-yard line with 2:26 left before the break.
Mills-Knight has spent most of his time behind Lacy on the depth chart since 2025, but his role has grown with Lacy unavailable. He entered the Auburn matchup with just four rushing attempts in 2026, all of them coming in Ole Miss’ Oct. 10 game at Vanderbilt. In that outing, he ran for 42 yards and a touchdown, highlighted by a 35-yard scoring run.
Before this season, Mills-Knight’s workload had been limited. He appeared in three games in 2025 and finished with eight carries for 25 yards.
A native of Montreal, Canada, Mills-Knight played his high school football at the Baylor School in Tennessee, a Chattanooga powerhouse that also produced Ole Miss starting center Brycen Sanders.
He arrived in Oxford as a four-star recruit in the 2025 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He was rated the No. 6 running back in the class and the No. 2 player in Tennessee.

Ole Miss Suddenly Has A Linebacker Concern Fans Can't Ignore
Luke Ferrellis night against Auburn ended early, and Ole Miss had to finish the game without one of the linebackers it had been counting on. He was removed from the availability report before kickoff after being listed as probable, then exited in the first half with an unspecified injury and did not return after halftime.
Ferrellis status now adds another layer to a situation that has already drawn plenty of attention around his move to Oxford. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney publicly accused Ole Miss and defensive coordinator Pete Golding of tampering during Ferrellis transfer, and the NCAAs investigation into that matter is still ongoing, leaving the Rebels with an uneasy mix of on-field uncertainty and off-field scrutiny. Ole Miss Just Landed In The Arch Manning Rumor Storm
Arch Manning has suddenly become part of a familiar SEC rumor cycle, with chatter around his future picking up after a difficult 2026 season at Texas. The speculation gained more traction when former ESPN analyst David Pollack said an SEC coach had floated the idea that Manning could leave the Longhorns, and even mentioned Georgia as a possible landing spot. For Ole Miss fans, the interesting part is not just the noise, but the fact that their program has also been mentioned by insiders as a potential destination.
For now, Manning has not said anything publicly and remains committed to Texas, which is why the rumor mill is doing most of the talking. Still, when a quarterback with his name value gets linked to multiple SEC schools, it naturally catches attention across the league, especially in Oxford, where any quarterback opening or transfer possibility becomes part of the conversation fast. Ole Miss Just Caught Auburn Off Guard In The Worst Way
Ole Miss found a way to turn a grind-it-out drive into one of the strangest scores of the night, with defensive tackle Will Echoles rumbling in for a rushing touchdown on a third-and-goal play. The sequence capped a 17-play, 89-yard march that had already started to wear on Auburn, and it gave the Rebels a jolt in a game that had been defined by physical, back-and-forth football.
Auburn answered with a touchdown on its next possession, keeping the pressure on and making sure the scoreline stayed tight. The game also had the kind of momentum swings that can change everything in a hurry, with an interception and a fumble adding to the tension as both sides looked for a clean stretch to seize control.
