Ole Miss is making moves this offseason, and one of the latest comes in the weight room. The Rebels have brought in Paul Constantine as their new head strength and conditioning coach, a key addition as Pete Golding continues to round out his staff.
Constantine arrives in Oxford with NFL experience under his belt, having served as the associate director of strength and conditioning for the Atlanta Falcons since 2024. That kind of pro-level background brings a different edge to a college program - especially one with SEC championship aspirations. The jump from the NFL to college isn’t always seamless, but Constantine’s résumé suggests he’s more than equipped to handle the transition.
Before his time with the Falcons, Constantine built his reputation at several college programs, including stints at Alabama, Indiana, Houston Baptist, and Baylor. That mix of Power Five experience and NFL pedigree gives him a unique perspective on developing athletes - not just for Saturdays in the fall, but for the long haul.
He steps in to replace Nick Savage, who followed Lane Kiffin to LSU to take on the same role with the Tigers. Savage played a big part in shaping the physical identity of the Rebels during his tenure, so Constantine will be expected to maintain - and ideally elevate - that standard.
The timing of the hire is also notable. Golding, who is entering his first full offseason as Ole Miss’s defensive coordinator, has been steadily assembling his ideal staff.
On the same day Constantine’s hire was announced, the Rebels also added Cody Woodiel from Miami to serve as tight ends coach and co-offensive coordinator. These aren’t just routine hires - they’re strategic pieces in a broader puzzle as Ole Miss looks to build on its momentum.
Bringing in a strength coach with NFL experience speaks to the program’s ambition. Strength and conditioning may not grab headlines like quarterback battles or recruiting wins, but it’s the foundation everything else rests on. Constantine’s job will be to ensure the Rebels are not just big and fast, but durable and disciplined - ready to handle the grind of an SEC schedule.
This is a behind-the-scenes hire that could have a very real impact on what we see on the field come fall.
