Kam Franklin came to Ole Miss with the kind of recruiting label that turns heads before he ever takes a snap. In 2024, the Rebels landed a five-star defensive lineman who was also the No. 1 recruit in the state of Mississippi, and now the conversation around him has shifted from promise to production.
At six-foot-five and 295 pounds, Franklin has the frame Ole Miss wants on the edge. The Rebels have spent his first two seasons asking him to grow into the SEC game, learn the details, and sharpen his technique instead of leaning only on raw athleticism. That patience is starting to pay off.
Franklin’s path through Oxford has been steady. As a true freshman, he appeared in seven games and finished with five solo tackles and six assisted tackles for 11 total. He also posted five tackles for loss, accounting for 19 yards, and added 2.5 sacks for 16 yards lost.
His sophomore season brought a bigger workload and better numbers across the board. Franklin played in 15 games, started all 15 in the 2025 season, and piled up 33 solo tackles and 36 assisted tackles for 69 total. He added nine tackles for loss for 21 yards, five sacks for 15 yards, three passes defended, and a forced fumble.
