College GameDay is heading to Oxford for one of the most charged games on Ole Miss’ 2026 schedule.
ESPN’s pregame show officially announced Friday that it will be on site for the Week 3 matchup between Ole Miss and LSU at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Sept. 19. The game will kick off under the lights in primetime, with Lane Kiffin making his return to Oxford in his first season as LSU’s head coach.
The setup all but guarantees a loud welcome for Kiffin from the Ole Miss crowd, and College GameDay will be there to take it in. The show’s X account made the announcement with a hype video and the message: “Well ... since you asked 😏WE'LL SEE YOU IN OXFORD WEEK 3 FOR LSU AND OLE MISS!@LSUfootball | @OleMissFB pic.twitter.com/n2A51TVELi”
Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee and Nick Saban are set to be part of the coverage, weighing in on the matchup and Kiffin’s departure while the rest of college football unfolds on Sept. 19.
The pageantry around Kiffin’s return will be impossible to miss, but the game carries more than just emotional baggage. For Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding, it’s a major early measuring stick in his first full year leading the program.
Golding will be asked to navigate a familiar challenge against a coach who knows his defense well, while also trying to keep his team focused on the bigger picture. Kiffin knows Golding’s offense, too, which should make the tactical battle every bit as intriguing as the noise in the stands.
The LSU roster will also bring several familiar faces back to Oxford. Former Ole Miss players expected to return as Tigers include edge rusher Princewill Umanmielen, linebacker TJ Dottery, offensive linemnan Devin Harper and wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr.
Ole Miss will have its own pair of former LSU players on the other side in running back JT Lindsey and offensive tackle Carius Curne.
With Kiffin back in Oxford, former Rebels in LSU colors, and College GameDay on hand, this one has all the ingredients to be the most emotional game of the 2026 season.

Ole Miss Heads Into Louisville Week With Key Camp Battles Still Open
Ole Miss is wrapping up fall camp with one last media-accessible practice before the focus shifts fully to Louisville, and the picture emerging out of August is one of a roster still sorting out a few important spots. Defensive coordinator Bryan Brown has sounded encouraged about the groups potential to take a step forward from the 2024 unit, pointing to better depth as a reason for optimism as the Rebels head into the opener.
There are still decisions to make, though, and the two biggest ones are on offense. The backup quarterback race has centered on AJ Maddox and Auburn transfer Deuce Knight, with Knight appearing to have the edge because of how quickly he has developed and how well his skill set fits. Ole Miss is also weighing its right tackle options, with Tommy Kinsler IV and Carius Curne both in the mix as the staff tries to settle the line before game week fully takes over. [Read more 🡒]
Notre Dame Just Saw An Old Defensive End Twist Help LSU Fast
A Louisiana judges temporary restraining orders have already started to ripple through college football, and LSU was quick to take advantage. The Tigers were able to add Notre Dame transfer Junior Tuihalamaka to their roster under the ruling, another move in an offseason that has seen their defensive line get a major makeover through the portal and the recruiting trail.
For Ole Miss fans, it is another reminder of how aggressively LSU has attacked its front this spring, with additions coming from Ole Miss and Tennessee alongside a fresh crop of freshmen. The bigger picture is still unfolding, though, because the legal ruling that opened the door for Tuihalamaka is part of a much wider fight over who gets to move, play and keep eligibility in a college game that keeps changing fast.
