Kewan Lacy is trending toward missing another big SEC matchup for Ole Miss.
Rebels coach Pete Golding said Nov. 2 that the running back is unlikely to play against No. 2 Georgia on Nov. 7 because of a shoulder injury. Ole Miss will host the Bulldogs at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in a 6:30 p.m. game on ABC.
Lacy sat out the Oct. 31 game against Auburn with a left shoulder injury, and Golding said he is still in the rehab process.
"It's a work in progress," Golding said. "We're not expecting to have him this week.
This isn't something that's going to happen overnight. He's still working hard at it.
Hopefully we'll know sooner than later, but not expecting him this week."
The injury traces back to Oct. 24 at Texas, when Lacy dislocated his left shoulder. Golding said the shoulder had already been banged up going into that game, and it is the same shoulder Lacy had surgery on in the offseason.
With Lacy sidelined, Ole Miss has had to lean on other backs in the rotation. Makhi Frazier has been the Rebels’ No. 2 back this season, but sophomore Shekai Mills-Knight pushed into a bigger role against Auburn.
He logged a career-high 16 carries, turning them into 71 yards and a touchdown. Before that, his career best was six rushes.
Frazier, a Michigan State transfer, handled 17 carries against Auburn and finished with 56 yards. If Lacy remains out, Frazier and Mills-Knight are the two most likely to split the workload.
JT Lindsey and Joshua Dye could also see action, though neither has established a steady role.
Lacy’s absence would come with a noticeable hit to Ole Miss’ production. He has 78 carries for 391 yards and five touchdowns in 2026, with injuries limiting his availability and causing him to miss two full games.
His 2025 season was a different story. Lacy rushed for 1,567 yards and set a school record with 24 touchdowns.

Ole Miss Suddenly Has A Tony Mitchell Question It Didnt Expect
Ole Miss has a new roster issue to sort through after transfer linebacker Tony Mitchell was removed from the team in late September for reasons the program has not disclosed. Mitchell arrived in Oxford with plenty of name recognition, having once been a five-star recruit before stops at Mississippi State and East Mississippi Community College brought him back into the SEC picture.
He did appear in games for the Rebels, but he did not log any snaps in the 2025 season before his roster spot disappeared. For a team trying to keep its defensive depth intact, the timing makes Mitchell one more unexpected question to monitor as the season moves forward. [Read more 🡒]
Ole Miss Just Built Early In-State Momentum After The Auburn Win
Ole Miss kept the good vibes rolling off the Auburn win with another recruiting boost, landing 2029 class defender Jordan Husband out of Brooklyn, Mississippi. The Forrest County Agriculture High School standout has been on the Rebels radar with offers from Ole Miss and Florida State, and his commitment adds another early in-state win for a staff that has been working to strengthen its local footprint.
Husbands decision comes with plenty of runway still ahead, but the appeal was clear enough for him to make the call now. He pointed to his connection with the coaching staff and the environment around the program as major reasons for choosing Ole Miss, and the Rebels are getting a young defensive prospect who has already put together notable production this season while playing for Forrest County Agriculture.
