ManningCast Keeps Ole Miss Tied To A National Football Spotlight

Broadcasting legend Jim Nantz joins Peyton and Eli Manning for a special ManningCast edition, promising fans unique insights and a fresh perspective during the Bills-Rams showdown.

Jim Nantz is headed to the ManningCast for the first time.

The veteran NFL on CBS play-by-play voice will join Peyton and Eli Manning on Monday night for the Buffalo Bills-Los Angeles Rams game, giving ESPN2 viewers a new addition to the weekly alternate broadcast. The regular Monday Night Football telecast will feature Joe Buck and Troy Aikman on ABC and ESPN, while Nantz takes part in the more relaxed Bills-Rams conversation with the Mannings.

According to Austin Karp of Sports Business Journal, Peyton Manning personally lined up the appearance by reaching out directly to Nantz. It adds another familiar voice to a broadcast that leans on personality as much as play-by-play, and Nantz fits the bill after a career that has included NCAA Tournament Final Fours, the Masters and plenty of other major events.

Nantz, 67, will still have his CBS duties to handle first. He is set to call Sunday’s Indianapolis Colts-Pittsburgh Steelers game in Pittsburgh, with that 1 p.m.

ET matchup coming before his Monday night appearance from Inglewood, Calif. Once that game is in the books, he’ll turn his attention to the Mannings and the 8:15 p.m.

ET kickoff.

For one night, at least, Nantz will be in the middle of the Manning brothers’ easygoing football banter, even if he’ll be doing it from far away rather than from the stadium itself.

Eli Manning’s Ole Miss days are long behind him, but the Rebels are still tied to the quarterback tradition with Trinidad Chambliss now leading the way. The source notes that Kalshi’s market is currently offering a look at the 2026 Rebels’ potential victory total with Chambliss at quarterback.

Ole Miss Already Faces A Familiar Test Against Vanderbilt

Ole Miss is back in SEC play with a matchup that already feels like a measuring stick, especially after both teams came in looking to steady themselves from recent losses. The Rebels got a welcome boost with Kewan Lacy returning from injury, while Vanderbilt brought its own intrigue with Jared Curtis expected back at quarterback, setting up a game that has plenty of familiarity and just enough uncertainty to matter.

The early action has matched the tone of the matchup, with Ole Miss finding the end zone and Vanderbilt answering with a field goal to keep the pressure on. For a Rebels team trying to reassert itself in conference play, the challenge is less about the opening sequence than what comes next, because Vanderbilt has already shown enough to make this one feel like it could turn on a handful of critical snaps.
