Trinidad Chambliss has already done enough this season to get NFL draft people leaning in, and Saturday night gives him another chance to make them sit up straight.
The Ole Miss senior quarterback will be front and center when the No. 8 Rebels (2-0) welcome the No.
7 LSU Tigers (2-0) to Oxford for Lane Kiffin’s return after he left Ole Miss just before last season’s College Football Playoff. The game is set for ABC at 7:30 p.m.
ET, and while Kiffin’s homecoming will drive plenty of the attention, Chambliss is the other name that matters here.

23 Louisville in Nashville, Chambliss helped deliver the finish, steering an eight-play, 40-yard drive that set up Lucas Carneiro’s game-winning field goal. He went 21-of-36 for 336 yards, threw three touchdown passes and had one interception.
Two of those scores came on 62-yard bombs to junior receiver Deuce Alexander.
That kind of production is exactly why scouts are starting to view the 6-foot, 205-pound Chambliss as more than just a fun college quarterback. In a Thursday story, The Athletic’s Dane Brugler named him one of 12 seniors who could sneak into the top 15 of the 2027 draft, which is scheduled for April 29-May 1 in Washington.
"There are several things working against Chambliss in his NFL evaluation, but he is a playmaker with an explosive arm and creative mobility that exasperates defenses," wrote Brugler. "If he goes nuclear this season, could a quarterback-desperate franchise see the vision and draft him early? It's possible."
Todd McShay of The Ringer pushed the conversation even further in his latest mock draft, sending Chambliss to the Arizona Cardinals with the No. 3 pick.
"He can attack tight windows from the pocket and becomes especially dangerous when improvising outside of it," wrote McShay. "Learning to take something off the football when necessary will be the next step in his development, but there's no other quarterback in this class with Chambliss's combination of talent, charisma and big-game chops."
That last part is what makes this matchup so interesting for Ole Miss. LSU is the toughest test the Rebels have seen so far, and the Tigers may be without junior quarterback Sam Leavitt, who is listed as doubtful because of a shoulder injury. Even so, they are preparing as if he will play instead of sophomore Landen Clark or freshman Husan Longstreet.
Whatever LSU’s quarterback situation ends up being, Chambliss is still the most compelling quarterback in the building. Another big performance on another big stage would only keep pushing his draft stock higher, and right now that stock is already soaring.
