After Ole Miss beat LSU 32-24 in Week 3, Kiffin said this week that the Rebels may have broken SEC stadium rules during the game at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The issue, in his view, came down to the way the crowd noise and music were handled while LSU was trying to operate on offense.
“Those games happen, and a lot of factors go into that,” Kiffin said on Wednesday, talking about the atmosphere at Ole Miss on Saturday night. “We didn’t protect really well around him [quarterback Sam Leavitt]; the crowd noise and music being played all the way through the snap when the center’s hand is on the ball. Again and again.”
SEC rules require in-stadium music to stop before the ball is snapped, and Kiffin’s comments amounted to a direct accusation that Ole Miss kept the music going through the snap. During ESPN’s broadcast on Saturday night, there was nothing said about a possible violation, and it didn’t become a major talking point on social media either.
Still, Kiffin made it clear the environment bothered him, especially with Ole Miss fans loudly greeting him in his return to Oxford after he left for the LSU job at the end of the 2025 season.
