The Washington Commanders are bracing for a major hit up front after offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil reportedly suffered a torn triceps in training camp on Saturday.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the injury came during 1-on-1 pass rush drills and is expected to require surgery. Garafolo said Tunsil will miss a “significant portion” of the regular season.

For Washington, the timing couldn’t be worse. Tunsil was brought in after the 2024 season and quickly became a key piece in front of former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels last year at left tackle.
The former Ole Miss standout is entering his 11th NFL season in 2026 and has long been one of the league’s most reliable tackles. At 32, durability has usually been part of his calling card, with at least 14 games played in all but one of his previous seasons. The exception came in 2021, when a torn UCL in his left thumb limited him to five games.
Now the Commanders will have to patch together the left side of the line while Tunsil recovers. Trent Scott, Foster Sarell and Andrew Wylie are among the other tackle options on the roster, while Josh Conerly was slated to start at right tackle.
