ESPN’s Heather Dinich is already mapping out the College Football Playoff picture through Week 2, and the SEC is all over it.
Dinich’s latest bracket projection includes six teams from the conference: Texas at No. 1, LSU at No.
5, Georgia at No. 6, Ole Miss at No.
7, Alabama at No. 9 and Texas A&M at No. 10.
The only other league with more than one team in her field is the Big Ten, represented by No. 2 Ohio State and No.
8 Indiana.
No team, according to Dinich, has a better shot at making the CFP than Texas. She gave the Longhorns an 87.7% chance to reach the field and a 36.7% chance to land the No. 1 seed.
That comes after Texas’ win over the previously No. 1 Buckeyes, a result that pushed the Longhorns into the center of her SEC spotlight.
Georgia, though, is the team Dinich labeled her “enigma.” The Bulldogs have been blowing past lesser opponents, which makes them difficult to place with confidence right now.
As the source put it, “Let’s be real for a second. The Texas win was monumental, but Georgia might be the best team in the SEC.
It’s just too hard to tell… they’re quietly crushing the little guys in a way that resembles last year’s Indiana title team… given Oklahoma’s offensive flop in the Big House on Saturday… it might not be until Oct. 10 at Alabama that Georgia gets its first real gut check.”
For now, Georgia keeps rolling into another tune-up of sorts, with Arkansas up next on Saturday. That game is set for 12:00 p.m. E.T. on ABC.
