Oklahoma State May Have Its Eyes On A Future Quarterback Fit

Could Nash Henry be Oklahoma State's next big quarterback prospect?

Oklahoma State’s bye week gave Eric Morris a little breathing room, and he used part of it the way a head coach should: out on the road, looking for help at the most important position on the field.

On Friday night, Morris was at Edmond North High School to watch Norman North four-star quarterback Nash Henry, according to Holden Krusemark of KFOR television. Norman North came away with a 35-28 win, but Morris’ presence made the trip notable for more than the final score.

Henry has put together a strong start to his season. Through four games, he has thrown for 1,036 yards, 13 touchdowns and one interception. That follows a 2025 campaign in which he passed for 3,222 yards, 29 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

The junior is a Class of 2028 target, and Oklahoma State does not currently hold an offer from him. Per 247 Sports, Henry’s offers include Arkansas, Baylor, Kansas State, TCU, Missouri State, Tulsa and UConn. If Morris liked what he saw, that list could grow.

Henry is ranked by 247 Sports as the No. 5 player in Oklahoma’s Class of 2028 and the No. 14 quarterback in the country. At 6-3 and 218 pounds, he looks like a natural fit for Morris’ Air Raid offense.

The bigger question is whether Oklahoma State can make itself attractive enough to matter. Morris already has a quarterback room and a future plan taking shape.

Drew Mestemaker is the starter, with freshmen Broderick Vehrs and Luke Tepas behind him, and the Cowboys also have Top 25 quarterback commit Carson White in the Class of 2027. White is finishing his prep career at Fort Bend Hightower in Texas.

That gives Morris three quarterbacks in the pipeline behind Mestemaker, who is NFL Draft eligible after the season. If Mestemaker stays beyond 2027, Morris won’t have to think about life without him until at least 2028.

Still, Morris keeps recruiting quarterbacks the way he coaches them: aggressively and with an eye for competition. He has a reputation for developing the position, with Tennessee Titans star Cam Ward among his most notable former pupils, and he has made it clear that star ratings matter less to him than the kind of player who can win the job. The best player will play.

So the trip to Edmond was about more than just one Friday night. It was a look at a possible future, and at another quarterback who could fit what Morris wants to build.

Oklahoma State Just Added A Familiar Name With Something To Prove

Braylin Presley is back in the picture for Oklahoma State after a winding college path that took him from Stillwater to Tulsa and now back to the Cowboys. The former OSU player and Tulsa standout has been granted a fifth year of eligibility, giving him a chance to return to the program that first brought him into the Big 12 spotlight.

The move comes as Presley and several other athletes continue to challenge the NCAAs new age-based eligibility rule in court, and that legal fight has kept his status in motion. For now, though, his return still appears to be in limbo on the school side, since he has not yet been formally announced by Oklahoma State and was not on the teams electronic roster Sunday evening. Oklahoma State Gets A Real Week 6 Test Coming Out Of Bye

Coming out of its bye week, Oklahoma State heads into Week 6 with a conference game that has a little more intrigue than a standard early-October matchup. The Cowboys are set to host UCF in Big 12 play, and the timing gives them a chance to build on the momentum they carried into the break after putting together a strong start to the month.

UCF arrives with some uncertainty under center and a road profile that has not been encouraging so far this season, which only adds to the sense that this is a real test for both sides. For Oklahoma State, the game offers a chance to measure whether its recent turnaround has some staying power as the Big 12 schedule starts to tighten. [Read more 🡒]

UCF Heads To Oklahoma State With One Huge Availability Question

UCFs trip to Stillwater comes with more uncertainty than usual, and Scott Frost spent part of the week sorting through the injury ripple effects before the Knights face Oklahoma State. The list already includes several key players, and Frost has tried to stress the next-man-up approach as UCF leans on its depth and waits to see who can make it back in the near future.

One of the bigger questions hanging over the matchup is the offensive line, where center Jacob Maiava is dealing with a lower-body injury and remains questionable. The Knights also appear set to be short on offense and in the middle of the defense, with the availability of quarterback Alonza Barnett III and linebacker Lewis Carter shaping up as a major storyline as kickoff approaches.
