Oklahoma State Lands Promising QB as Coach Morris Reshapes Future

Oklahoma State continues its quarterback overhaul under new coach Eric Morris with an under-the-radar addition to the 2026 class.

Oklahoma State Adds Promising 2026 QB Commit as Eric Morris Rebuilds the Room

The quarterback room in Stillwater is getting a fresh coat of paint, and new head coach Eric Morris is wasting no time putting his stamp on the future of Oklahoma State football. On Tuesday night, the Cowboys picked up a commitment from 2026 quarterback Luke Tepas, a rising prospect out of Barrington High School in Illinois.

Tepas, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound senior, is coming off an impressive season where he led Barrington to the Class 8A semifinals. His stat line tells the story of a poised and efficient passer: 130 completions on 213 attempts (61.0%) for 2,254 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. While he didn’t have any reported scholarship offers before announcing his commitment, Tepas clearly showed enough on tape and in big moments to catch the eye of Morris and his staff.

This marks the second quarterback commitment in OSU’s 2026 class. Tepas joins Brodie Vehrs, the Chandler, Arizona product who signed with the Cowboys earlier this month. Together, they represent a youth movement under Morris, who appears to be building the foundation for a revamped quarterback pipeline in Stillwater.

That rebuild is coming at the right time. The 2025 roster is expected to undergo significant turnover at the quarterback position, with Zane Flores, Noah Walters, and Mason Schubert all slated to move on. The futures of Hauss Hejny and Banks Bowen remain uncertain, adding even more urgency to replenish the depth chart.

There’s also a potential wildcard in the mix. Reports indicate that North Texas quarterback Drew Mestemaker is expected to enter the transfer portal when it opens on January 2.

While there’s no confirmation that he’ll follow Morris to OSU, it’s a situation worth monitoring. Mestemaker played under Morris at UNT, and a reunion in Stillwater would add an experienced arm to the equation.

For now, though, the focus is on the future-and Tepas is the latest piece of that puzzle. He may have flown under the radar in the recruiting world, but his size, production, and leadership during a deep playoff run suggest he could develop into a key contributor down the line. Morris has a reputation for maximizing quarterback talent, and with Tepas and Vehrs in the fold, Oklahoma State fans have reason to be intrigued by what’s coming next.
