Oklahoma State’s homecoming weekend is set up to be more than just a Saturday in Stillwater. With three home games left in the 2026 season, the Cowboys will use the visit from Colorado to bring a heavy dose of recruiting power onto campus - and the biggest gathering could come from the Class of 2027.
The matchup with the Buffaloes will draw plenty of young prospects to watch Oklahoma State (4-2, 2-1 in Big 12) take on Colorado (2-4, 0-3), but the class of 2027 is the group worth circling. For the Cowboys, the job isn’t only about landing new names. It’s also about making sure the commitments they already have stay locked in.
That matters even more on a weekend built around reunion. Homecoming will bring thousands of Oklahoma State alumni back to Stillwater, and the program is taking advantage of the atmosphere by hosting most of its recruiting class at the same time. The idea is simple: create some bonding, build familiarity and keep the class intact until signing day in December.
Per Rivals (subscription required), the 2027 commits expected on campus include Fort Bend Hightower (Missouri City, Texas) quarterback Carson White; Jenks, Okla., offensive lineman Odaefe Oruru; Choctaw, Okla., linebacker Israel Hammons; Pryor (Quapaw, Okla.) wide receiver Cooper Hooker; Broken Arrow, Okla., safety Bryson Brown; Bolingbrook, Ill., running back TJ Lewis; American Leadership Academy (Queen City, Ariz.) tight end Talan Scott; Troy, Texas, offensive lineman Sonny Mullen; and Ensworth (Nashville, Tenn.) offensive tackle Jake Baker.
That’s nine of the 13 players Oklahoma State has picked up this spring and summer, which gives the weekend a built-in team-building angle. If the group didn’t know each other well before, Saturday should change that.
And for first-year head coach Eric Morris, this class is about more than one weekend of photo ops. The Cowboys have started 4-2, and while that has felt like a solid opening stretch for Morris, he still needs a recruiting class that can carry the momentum forward in 2027.
White may be the most important piece of that future. Recruiting services widely view him as a top-25 quarterback in the country, and his presence matters because current starter Drew Mestemaker could declare for the NFL draft after this season. That would leave Morris with a major hole under center.
There’s also the possibility that Oklahoma State could look outside the roster and go through the transfer portal for a more established answer. As it stands now, the 2027 quarterback depth chart includes two freshmen who would be second-year players next season but still have little to no game experience.

Oklahoma State Cracks Down After Disturbing Student Section Incident
Oklahoma State is making a visible change in Boone Pickens Stadium after a troubling incident in the student section left two Cowboy Marching Band members injured by objects thrown from the stands. The university is tightening security and increasing camera monitoring as it looks to prevent a repeat, a reminder that what happens in the student section can spill well beyond the crowd noise and onto the field.
The band will be moved to a different spot in the stadium for the upcoming homecoming game, part of a response aimed at protecting players, performers and fans alike. For Oklahoma State, the immediate concern now is restoring some sense of control around the atmosphere on game day while making clear that the behavior crossing the line in the previous game will not be brushed aside. Oklahoma States Next Running Back Battle May Start This Weekend
A key recruiting visit is set to land in Stillwater when Chrystian Ervin makes his official trip to Oklahoma State for the Colorado game weekend. The 2026 running back from Silas High School in Tacoma, Washington, has started to draw attention beyond the region, with Kansas State already on the board and other programs, including Alabama, looking into him as the Cowboys continue thinking ahead at a position that always needs replenishment.
For Oklahoma State, the timing matters because the staff is also weighing longer-term roster needs behind its current backfield picture. Caleb Hawkins could be on an NFL Draft path after the 2027 season, which makes every evaluation of the next wave of backs more important, and Ervins visit gives the Cowboys a chance to see where they stand in a competitive chase that is just beginning to take shape. Colorados Bowl Hopes Ride On One Huge Test At Oklahoma State
Colorado comes into Week 8 at 2-4, and the margin for error is gone as Isaac Wilson prepares to make his third straight start at quarterback. Wilson has given the Buffaloes some passing production since taking over, with 699 yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions, but the bigger challenge now is whether Colorado can keep pace with an Oklahoma State team that can force opponents into uncomfortable shootouts.
The key matchup starts with the Cowboys passing game and the player Colorado needs to disrupt most. Drew Mestemaker is widely viewed as a strong NFL Draft prospect, and he has powered one of the Big 12s best aerial attacks, which means Colorados defensive plan will revolve around getting pressure and trying to create some disruption up front. If the Buffaloes are going to hang around, they also may need to lean on a run game against an Oklahoma State defense that has been vulnerable there, giving Colorado at least one path to stay competitive.
