The Big 12 matchup between No. 18 Oklahoma State and No. 20 Houston comes with the usual Saturday pressure, but the Friday availability report gave the Cowboys a much cleaner picture than the Cougars.
Oklahoma State should go into the game with a short list. Defensive lineman Landon Dean and safety Mose Phillips III were already ruled out earlier in the week, and that situation held.
Dean is set to miss his second straight game, while Phillips will sit for the first time this season after injuring his shoulder against UCF last week. On Tuesday, Morris said he was unsure if Phillips would be available.
In Phillips’ spot, Evan Jackson is the expected starter at boundary safety. Jackson filled in last Saturday and made one of the defining plays of the game, scooping up a fumble and turning it into a score that helped build a two-touchdown cushion.
The Cowboys also lost wide receiver Dayvon Standard from the equation. The true freshman, who had caught Morris’ eye during fall camp, moved from questionable on Wednesday to doubtful on Thursday before landing on out for Friday.
Morris had been hoping Standard could play, but that is no longer in play. No other Oklahoma State players were listed.
Houston’s situation is a little messier. The Cougars had already been preparing to play without linebacker Jaden Yates and defensive lineman De'Marion Thomas. Friday’s report added several more names to monitor: defensive back Alvin Williamson Jr., defensive back Jalen Mayo, defensive back JD Rhym and defensive lineman Ejiro Egodogbare.
Mayo is the one to watch closest. He starts in the secondary in Houston’s 4-2-5 defense and was one of the top defensive backs in FCS last season at Stephen F.
Austin. He is part of a group that has already come away with five interceptions and ranks among the Big 12’s better pass-defending units.
JD Rhym, Ejiro Egodogbare and linebacker Miller Malone were listed as probable.
The availability reports are updated Thursday, Friday and again about 90 minutes before kickoff on Saturday. The report shows status only, not injury details.

Oklahoma State Fans May See The Playoff Very Differently Soon
A major shift in the College Football Playoff picture is starting to come into focus, and it could change the way Oklahoma State fans think about postseason possibilities. ESPN reported that the CFP and ESPN have agreed in principle to a television contract for a 24-team playoff, a dramatic expansion from the current format that would open the door wider for programs that have spent years on the outside looking in.
For the Cowboys, the appeal is obvious: a bigger bracket would create more routes into the national conversation and make the margin for error less brutal. Oklahoma State has never reached the four-team playoff, but under a 24-team setup the programs recent history suggests it would have had far more chances to keep playing into winter, with the new format targeted to begin in 2027 if the remaining approvals are completed. Oklahoma States Week 7 Scoreboard Just Got Bigger Than Fans Realize
Oklahoma States Week 7 outlook is tied to more than just what happens in Stillwater. The Cowboys have a scoreboard to monitor across the Big 12, where games involving Cincinnati, West Virginia, Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor and TCU can shift the value of their rsum in real time. For a team with College Football Playoff ambitions, those outside results matter because strength of victory and tiebreaker positioning can change as quickly as the standings do.
Texas Tech also looms large in the picture, especially with its trip to Stillwater still ahead on the calendar. If both teams keep handling business, that matchup could grow into one of the conferences defining games. And beyond the league race, the outcomes for BYU and Utah carry added weight for Oklahoma State, since strong showings there can lift the Big 12s national profile and give the Cowboys a better at-large case down the line. Oklahoma State Just Got Another Recruiting Boost At The Right Time
Oklahoma State picked up another piece for its 2027 recruiting class when Keilan Neal verbally committed after his official visit to Stillwater. The defensive lineman from Franklin Road Academy in Nashville adds to a group that is already starting to take shape, and his pledge gives the Cowboys another notable building block as the class continues to grow.
Neal arrives as one of the more promising names in the class, sitting near the top of Oklahoma States current haul. For a program trying to keep momentum on the trail, landing a defensive lineman this early is the kind of development that can help set the tone for what comes next, especially with more recruiting decisions still to play out.
